Tulane Athletics has a significant historical and cultural problem with this. The lack of news might prompt some to believe that no one is interested.nawlinspete wrote:Fully aware of the two recent hires; I asked because the staff is not complete notwithstanding 'overwhelming interest.'
Any additional word on the balance of OOC games this winter ?
But that's absolutely no longer the case. There are new Board members who have put up $ and want to win, a new President who is not a failure and micromanaging control freak and an Athletic Director who is a legit stud with a plan of attack to make Tulane successful on the national stage.
It will take time to shift this image, but rest assured it's happening. If anything, there are too many good candidates who want to work for Dunleavy.

How did the fifth year graduate transfer from Purdue's visit with Coach Dunleavy go ? Was the player as impressed with us, and with Dunleavy, as he was with the former Nevada coach who secured this audition ? Was he offered ? Has he accepted anywhere else ?

Only negative, picture includes guy who transferred out.
When will the final coaching hire be made ? Will there be additional players signed who will be eligible for this coming season ?

What I really like about Dunleavy is that he sounds completely committed to being a program coach. Like this is where he wants to start and end his college career. He doesn't sound like he wants to use Tulane as a stepping stone. Not that that's a bad thing, because you can't use Tulane as a stepping stone unless you succeed. But Dunleavy sounds like he is on a mission to turn Tulane into a great program and not just have a great year or two. As a Tulane fan, that is very refreshing.

It appears Dunleavy will elevate Raman Sposato from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant Coach.

Is this the world class super coach Dunleavy has been unable to name because of his "current position" or is this a desperation hire because the Dunleavy super hire backed out ?JerseyWave wrote:It appears Dunleavy will elevate Raman Sposato from Director of Basketball Operations to assistant Coach.

From the day he was introduced, virtually every interview with him if the subject gets brought up about "why Tulane" or "why go back to the college game" Dunleavy talks about teaching and building a program. He seems very committed to being here and building something that will last. Maybe he's like most other coaches that would leave if the right offer came along, but I just get the feeling he loves what he's doing and this is his last stop. Let's hope he's here for 10+ years, and brings plenty of success in the years to come.

Another good reason he may stay if successful is that his wife's sister lives here and that was one of the connections they were looking for when he was seeking a job this time. The sisters husband played football at Tulane and told Dannen of his interest in the job.
Thanks for the Happy Holiday's Wave Football and Volleyball!
I think Dunleavy is probably as good of a basketball coach we could expect to land here at Tulane. He really loves the city and teaching these kids the game. My only concern going forward is recruiting. If he is going to succeed here long term it’s imperative that he raise the talent level.DfromCT wrote:It's a good listen, thanks, TPS.tpstulane wrote:National media interview

Can't we just start a new thread on any given subject occasionally rather than digging up an old one from the grave!!!

Makes no sense to create a brand new thread on the exact same topic.

It makes a lot of sense since the vast majority of the posts are old, and irrelevant.

If you just click on the little blue checkmark in front of the thread title, it takes you right past all those annoying "old, irrelevant" posts and directly to the current posts. As they say, Easy peasy!

Very interesting article. A few interesting recruiting nuggets. Close on a few guys, and says exactly why they were hesitant. I like that he's extremely confident in his own skills. And its interesting that the article mentions that we won the Montego Bay Classic? Where's our trophy? Did they award a co-champs?

To RobertM320 or our intrepid moderators: A humble suggestion. Why not change the name of this thread to simply "Mike Dunleavy". We may be able to get another decade of service from the topic.
