DfromCT wrote:You are right 320. At the same time, I'd like to know how many of those offers are still outstanding? Obviously, we cannot honor that many offers, and this may be everyone we offered from this class. Clearly the vast majority have verbal commitments, but my guess is the staff manages how many offers are still on the table so they don't get into a situation where they get too many commitments that they cannot honor them all. If we have 25 or so schollies available, and 16 committed, we only have 9 left. And I'm sure a whole lot of those uncommitted have been told they'd only get preferred walk on status, effectively ending their recruitment.

That's one problem with the recruiting tracking services. They help coaches target players and give us some insight, but don't have the manpower to manage a few thousand recruits up to date status. My guess is we have less than 50 players, and maybe even less than 25 that we're actively recruiting to fill the last 9 slots (or whatever the number of slots available is).
At this stage, you're probably correct that a much smaller number remain. I'm sure part of what the recruiting directors job is, is to keep track of offers and commits at every position. And like has been mentioned, if they reach their goal of X players at a specific position, the remaining offers are pulled. But 300+ is not out of the norm. Memphis, Houston and others all have similar numbers.

Its become pretty obvious in the past two recruiting seasons just how much Fritz (and Tulane) value grades. Not sure if its Tulane forcing it on Fritz, or Fritz knowing it takes those kinds of kids to handle the school part of Tulane, but there have been more players we've seen with offers from Ivy League schools than I ever remember seeing in the past.

Hopefully their 40 times are as good as their GPA’s.

With its massive endowment, Harvard would be a perennial Top 20 D1 football school if it so decided, and still be Harvard. Imagine the possibilities -- crimson would instantly be the gangwear color of choice.

It's likely Fritz...he doesn't want to have a constant headache dealing with players who struggle in school. Stockton's the same way.
It's fine for Fritz....it's no barrier to winning 8 or 9 games; once we get there, then we may liberalize (or may not).
Stockton is there - basically a NIT program - and she should broaden as it's just a few players to deal with.

HUGELY interesting tweet just a short while ago from Amare Jones, one of our current commits.
https://twitter.com/yaboymauryy/status/ ... 3755606016

And this guy visited this weekend, and if you click on his name in the twitter link, he's got himself listed as a Tulane commit now. No confirmation from Fritz yet, though. This would be a HUGE get in more ways than one. He's a DT, 6-3 312 lbs, would be our highest rated recruit, AND take a look at who some of the schools that offered him were. They're in the 247 link below his tweet.

Looking like it was a productive weekend of recruiting. Fritz has really picked it up lately. We need an infusion of talent on the defensive side of the ball. Signing day can't get here fast enough.

If this Jeffery Johnson guy is truly a commit, that would be a big help. 312 lb DT. And he took his pics at Tulane wearing #77!

Huge weekend for #Fritzmas so far:

One of the top punters in the country in Ryan Wright, a huge DT who had some serious offers in Jeffery Johnson and a big, fast S in Dorian Camel.

So who is the 4th that Amare Jones tweet refers to? Any guesses? All very good news from the three public ones.

Robert: Rivals https://tulane.rivals.com/commitments/football/2018 has us at no. 76 with 7 three star recruits but has yet to list Jeffrey Johnson.

WF has been smokin' this week for recruiting! Looking like a solid class indeed! :D

247 already has him listed.

No, lurker, I don't have any idea yet. We had some really good targets come in this weekend. If its any of them I'd be happy.

I'm thinking if there is a 4th, its one of these three. These are from fearthewave.com 's list of who was coming in this weekend. I've seen Lewis already post on Twitter that he had a good visit. Nothing from anyone else yet.

8: Anthony Lewis - Murphy, AL - WR/TE (3-star)
Lewis is a 6'4" TE out of Alabama. The uncommitted 3-star is another heavily recruited target with offers from the likes of Miss State, Kentucky, Indiana, Memphis, and more.
9: Maurice Robinson - Murphy, AL - ATH (3-star)
Robinson is an outstanding ATH prospect (#51 in the nation and a top-20 prospect in Alabama). He holds several major offers too including the school upriver. He's uncommitted.
10: Larry Brooks - Kennedale, TX - DB (ULM Commit)
Brooks is the first new Texas name on this list, but he's currently pledged to Louisiana-Monroe.

Is the early signing period helping us close the deal with a lot of these recruits?
