There you go telling a kid he's not good enough to make it at another place so come to Tulane instead.
I hate that line of thinking.

Nope. Pointing out that if he's that good he'll play in at least 48 games for us.

You are clueless.

Meanwhile we have a New Baseball stadium, New Football stadium, renovated Basketball arena, and a new basketball/volleyball training facility(non-game day).

In the works, Athletic Village for Olympic sports.

All together over $120 million. These investments gave us the ability to say "hey we can hang with you". It is what Aresco used to get us into the American and out of CUSA.

Keep bitch/moaning JJ. I find it amusing.

You are just clueless.

So we spent all that money on facilities that guarantee we're not interested in a P5 slot? We spent less on all those facilities combined than most peers vying for a P5 slot spent on their stadium alone? Where's our IPF (I know, in Metarie, owned by Tom Benson and his Saints.)

This is a thread drift, for sure. But Green Wave constantly defending the Athletics Dept. and Rick Dickson, yet claiming repeatedly he's NOT a Tulane employee, is ludicrous. He showed us a print out of a memo last week that only someone within the Athletics Department hierarchy would have access to. If he's not Rick Dickson, his livelihood somehow depends on RD.

And by the way: NOBODY cares about the Athletic Village for Olympic sports. We'd much rather have the money go towards putting us on even ground with the rest of the Universities trying to get into a P5. Spend on coaches THAT CAN WIN. Put teams into position TO WIN. Build facilities that attract athletes that can HELP US WIN. Right now we're doing nothing more than throwing teams onto the field, praying they won't look too bad. They're set up to fail, when all we want is teams SET UP TO WIN.

THE BITCHING AND MOANING WILL STOP WHEN WE GET AN AD THAT, LIKE RD's PREDECESSORS, PUTS US IN A POSITION TO WIN IN THE THREE SPORTS THAT MATTER MOST: FOOTBALL AND MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL.

None of our facilities will prevent our moving to a P5. We were never going to go to a P5 from CUSA anyway. We modernized our facilities and added an OCS which in turn got us recognized by the AAC and parlayed that into an invite to the American. An IPF if it comes, will not come until the rest of our sports have been set up. Now maybe if we raise enough we can combine them into one large complex similar to Notre Dame's. The revenue generating OCS trumped the IPF and the space required to put one down pretty much assures getting one the last priority or at most incorporated into the athletic village.

In regards to the "I work for Tulane and RD crap" BS.

To win our division, then the American Championship, and to compete for a National Championship.

Dickson is getting up there and I believe after the stadium is completely funded and the athletic village secured he will step down. I believe our new infrastructure along with our upgrade into the American conference has given us a foundation that will give us a better chance to hire quality coaches, secure better recruits, and enable us to lure a quality AD. Prestige and name recognition has been lacking for 60 years now. Our future success now rests squarely on our coaches. Katrina fell right in the middle of RD's tenure and crushed Tulane's small athletic budget almost right after his fight at keeping Football during the review of 2003. Not exactly the ordinary run of the mill things you would encounter as an AD. The board loves him and he managed to survive Cowen's Micro management style. He may have influenced Cowen's behavior after the review probably assisted by his relationship with Goldring.

I believe Dickson's overall management skills are good. But, to move forward we need new younger leadership to stimulate needed performance out of the front part of the program. This will require a younger AD perhaps one accomplished at talent
You are right about one thing though. This is a major thread drift.

One problem: it didn't generate revenue ( or at least not much hence the reason they won't release the figures). That's what happens when you build a 22,660 seat stadium w/a football capacity less than 25k and can't sell several hundred of those seats next to the press box. It's also hard to turn a profit when you only host 6 events a year.

The number of seats around the press box they didn't sell as season tickets is no more than 60. I bought tickets in section 119 and intentionally bought in a row that had 6 seats to my right (near the press box) blacked out. On 9/6/14 there were six people there, with tickets in hand for those seats.

The seats with limited views because of the press box won't make/break Yulman. The NIMBY's already had a much, much, much bigger affect on Yulman's potential for revenues. And I'm not sure Stadium Operations turned a profit last year, thus the silence on Yulman's financial results.

Coxie "put on a clinic" at the Tulane camp on Saturday morning, according to a source, and received a call regarding his status with LSU shortly afterward. LSU requested a return visit to its campus, in which Coxie and his whole family gladly obliged. Once on campus, he met with LSU recruiting coordinator and running backs coach Frank Wilson and Les Miles. That's when the Tigers offered him a scholarship, leading to an instant commitment from the rising senior.

And one of the comments says he'll be one of 9 WRs at LSU in 2016. Will he even see the field his first 3 years?

Not IF the reason LSU did not send NLI is because of academics.

Interesting semantics here. If the school doesn't send the NLI, can the player really say he "decommited"? Why wouldn't that be a case of the school pulling the offer?

Has this coaching staff been recruiting him at all? I know CJ & Co. were after him, but hadn't heard that Coach Fritz and company were going after Coxie.

Not sure. But we're short WR's.
LSU has too many.

Another CJ recruiter beats us for local talent. Coxie was a different level of recruit than the local WR who committed today.

Given that he is an academic redshirt at Memphis, I wouldn't be surprised if Fritz didn't go after him since it seems unlikely that Fritz/administration would want to add a player that has significant academic issues before even entering a (relatively) rigorous academic environment. That doesn't even take into account that Memphis is almost certainly easier than Tulane on the academic side to its athletes, that good WRs may be reluctant to come to Tulane until they see Fritz produce a WR with at least 600 yards in a single season given Fritz's recent history of heavily preferring the run, or that it's still unclear how efficient Fritz's current staff is at recruiting.

For those that don't know, academic redshirts may practice in the initial term and receive athletics aid during the initial year of full-time collegiate enrollment but may not compete in their first year of full-time collegiate enrollment. In order to meet the academic redshirt standard, a college-bound student-athlete must:

Complete 16 core courses;
Meet the academic redshirt sliding scale (GPA and ACT/SAT sum score); and
Graduate from high school.

If you're not academically eligible at LSU at the get go, there's a very good chance you're probably not going to make it at TU.

No use in recruiting a player who won't see the field because of academics. Happy hump day roll wave!
