How many times do you think that has been done?
Same game yes
Same inning not very often

Last week, Yoenis Cespedis tied a National League record with 6 RBI's in the same inning. 2 run double and a grand slam.

Rob is playing 1B and the guy in front of him in the bigs is 34yo
Rob could get a call up and onto the 40 man roster

If he's not on the 40 man roster, that's a shame. It's a complicated process to get a player not on the 40 man up to the dance. I never knew it, but it's been talked about extensively on sports radio in NYC, as the Mets are one of the most injury riddled teams I can remember in my lifetime.

Reason for optimism

Before this series began, former Tulane third baseman Rob Segedin hadn’t played at Zephyr Field. Suffice to say he likes it.

Segedin, the Oklahoma City Dodgers’ first baseman, hit a home run for the second consecutive game, boosting his total to 12 and his RBIs to 41.

His power numbers this season have him feeling he may get a callup to the parent Los Angeles Dodgers.

“I like that this is an organization that does a lot of call-ups,” said Segedin, 26. “Last year, (Los Angeles) set a Major League record for call-ups, so I feel I’ll get an opportunity.”

In his favor is he can play both corners of the infield, can DH against an American League teams and can hit left-handed pitchers well off the bench.

And, he got attention with a strong spring training. He hit .267 but tied for the team lead with four home runs.

“I’ve been able to stay consistent so far this season, and limit the cold streaks,” said Segedin, who is batting .300. “I want to keep my name in the back of their minds.

“I’ve improved defensively, and I’ve been hitting with more power.”

Not being on the 40 man roster makes it a lot easier for him to get a call up to a team OTHER THAN the Dodgers. For example, if the Mets were to suffer another injury to their first baseman (currently Loney, whom they acquired from San Diego's AAA team a couple of weeks ago) the Mets could very easily acquire Segedin without the Dodgers having to expose someone on their 40 man roster to the rest of the league. The Mets could claim him and be forced to keep him at the MLB level all year or risk losing him. Not likely to happen, but certainly within the realm of possibility. As a Mets fan, I can only hope Duda comes back sooner rather than later.

Don't think that's right. What you're describing sounds like the rule 5 draft. That's something that happens in the offseason. You can't just claim players in another organization in the middle of a season because he's not on the 40 man roster.

Profound Wizard is correct. The rule 5 draft and minor league version take place in December at the Winter Baseball Meetings. It is not possible to pluck a player out of someone's farm system during the season. A trade, on the other hand, is an opportunity but not likely.
