Basically, the 247 composite utilizes 247/ESPN/Rivals/Scouts ratings equally in order to rank the values of recruits (which leads to stars), and, as more of the sites publish ratings for players, a player can stay the same, add a star or lose a star depending on the overall value of the player. I think that this is important to understand how the ratings work, especially if anyone has questions about why a player loses or gains a star down the road. This link explains the methodology for each: http://www.cougcenter.com/wsu-football- ... igning-day.

A good example of this is Caleb Sampson - our most recent commit - who is rated 2 stars by Rivals and Scout, but 3 stars by 247 - he isn't rated on the 247 composite yet, but I can imagine where he will land. Of course, players can always improve their stock during their senior year, so this is certainly not and end all be all - but it's still interesting none-the-less.

Links to Tulane's classes along with the 3* designation ranges:

Rivals: https://tulane.n.rivals.com/
A 3* player is considered to be roughly top 300-750.

247: http://tulane.247sports.com/Season/2017 ... ll/Commits
A 3* player is considered to be roughly top 300-750.

ESPN: http://espn.go.com/college-sports/footb ... class/2017
The ranges for 3* status are unclear.

Scout: http://www.scout.com/college/tulane/201 ... ll-commits
A 3* player is outside of the top 300, but it's unclear where this range ends.
