A bunch of the Top 50 players from the state, but noticeably, none of the top 15. All the ones listed are between #17 and #50.

Yep I noticed that as well. We need start winning to attract that type of kid.

I also noticed that there was not many lineman from either side of the ball listed. I think I saw 1 from each line listed. We need to recruit linemen in a BIG way!

Our offensive scheme doesn't help recruit o-lineman with legitimate NFL aspirations. Our d-lineman will get lots and lots of turns against a zone blocking scheme - that won't help much either.
Put the ranch & the dog on whatever program the Stanford OC, Mike Bloomgren goes to as head coach after next year. He's going to sign-up premier earth movers wherever he winds up.

That's fine for now. It will take some winning to get the top 15 kids and I bet we are getting their attention in the next year or two. Meanwhile, if we can land our fair share of #17-#50 that's more than enough to build a top ~25 team.

yea well, we've run pro style for the last 4 years, and I didn't see many NFL linemen recruited during that time. I'll take our chances.
Oh, and we ran a lot of zone blocking last year as well anyway.

The magic elixir for marginal high school & college teams. It makes you look bigger and better in the mirror than you really are; until you play a defense that can consistently show man while controlling the LOS.
Do you really think the problem with Curtis Johnson's offense was the scheme?

Depends how you approach the question. Knowing the athletes we had available, then yeah it was the scheme. If he had landed the athletes we needed for his offense then no, the scheme was probably fine.

Among many problems, yes.

Certainly part of it.
When has Tulane EVER consistently recruited dominant OL?
Heck Ohio State zone blocks; all the spread teams like TCU, Baylor, Oklahoma zone block.

I wish we could do it as I like downhill running. But we've never been able to

If you coach it well, they will come.
CJ was only able to attract three winning position coaches during his entire tenure. The rest of his staff was a collection of career maladroits.
The read option, like the wishbone & veer at the end of their lifecycles, is not the magic potion scheme it once was for teams looking to elevate themselves on the national stage. In the late 90's we briefly had our little genie in the bottle and squandered it.
Look to the sideline for the pre-snap call that means nothing because there is *NOTHING* to isolate with certainty.

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !
