Wasn’t Chris Owens (1998?) a Parade All American, played one year at Tulane then transferred to Texas.

I think it would actually be two years.

This was posted elsewhere:

Elijah Wood goes to the same high school as my kids. I watched him play last night. He’s a great passer and is very athletic. Could not make a shot - even missed a dunk. Has been very heavily recruited by a lot of big name schools. Interestingly, we already have a player from B-CC - Cam Galic who is a walk on.

Sounds a lot like our supposed star recruit for next year. Can pass but can't score. Too bad they have no one to pass to who can shoot.

I will say again that Dunleavy has said it takes 6 years to build a program. For better or worse, he is playing the long game. At a minimum, he will be the coach for one more year. I hate losing too but I have never built a college basketball program. Those who have probably know what that are talking about.

you and MD have something in common then, neither have built a college program. 6 years to build a basketball program is a lazy answer by MD and 100% wrong. We have a fairly recent example of a coach that built an NCAA tourney team 3 years from nothing.

I was reading that the other star recruit Days has actually improved his scoring a good bit as he’s leading his team on a win streak. Nothing incredible, but if I am recalling correctly something in the range of 12pts per game. Considering he was averaging 3, I’ll take the uptick and hope he can keep developing. All of his other stats are great, just needs to get more aggressive.

Still think GALLIC should see a few minutes each game. In the past, when inserted he showed much promise.

Gbgreenie is a damn propagandist at this point.

Whoever said it takes 6 years to build a program should check out what the coach at LSU is doing or hell any other good program for that matter. It doesn’t take 6 years

Strange. Tulane not even on his 24/7 list. I did some research and his home team Maryland didn’t even offer him. He very athletic but is prone to turnovers. Should fit in well here.

Don’t shoot the messenger:
As his sophomore season began, Wood struggled mightily. Wood was the main source of turnovers on a B-CC team that committed an obscene number of them in the early part of the season.
Well I left it out that he can’t shoot.
The biggest downfall to Wood’s scoring ability is he doesn’t currently have a reliable three-point shot in his arsenal.
It was in the first story I read. Sorry to offend.

His commitment will “buy” Dunleavy another year or two which will prolong the inevitable.

I was hoping for this caliber of recruit to show up in year 1 or 2 of MD, not in year 5. We bought into MD's NBA experience would attract highly rated players and turn this program around. That said,, while nice to see a verbal from a kid like this, MD has proven that he is an absolutely terrible college coach. if given 5 more years here, can MD get this kid to the NBA. (a reason he stated for selecting Tulane) ? Possibly. Can MD build a team around him and implement a system that would translate into winning basketball? IMO, no way.

I'll say again, if we swapped recruiting classes this year with Duke, we'd be a middle of the pack AAC team. Give MD all the talent in the world and he'll underachieve.

I'd love to see this kid hold his commitment to Tulane but only if he'll do so without MD as coach. Otherwise I'd take a better coach with a bunch of 3 star kids then MD with 1 or 2 or even a team full of 4 star kids.

My biggest concern...Alabama A&M or SELA will come in at the last minute and steal him away

I'm happy the Green Wave has landed a good prospect for 2020 and congratulate the young man on his choice, but 2020 is a long time from now and we've yet to see any indication that MD can coach players of any level.

Btw, I'm guessing this "get" has at least as much to do with Tony Chiles and his northeast basketball connections as it does with MD.

The title of the thread is misleading. We haven’t landed him yet. At this point it’s a verbal commitment. We’ll only know on signing day if we’ve “landed” him.
Definitely MD’s highest profile commitment to date. Is he a PG or a Small Foward 6’5” as Guerry mentioned in his article?
Like others have said until his signs on the dotted line I’m staying cautious. If he’s that good I would expect his recruitment to continue.

Very athletic. Just a junior, he can improve his release and dribbling.

Hold on for dear life!!!
