If he has legitimate notions of playing on Sundays the RPO is not helpful. Particularly for "bubble" o-lineman. NFL teams have very little time and patience converting rpo o-lineman to pro technique. (à la Junior Diaz)
The same can also be said of gap charging d-lineman vs. the RPO. It is a good thing that Navy is in the West for our defensive front. At least there is one game a year that the d-line is required to play cleanly.

Always tough to lose a lineman. Was he expected to start/play? Anyone know what our O-line looked like in the spring game?

The O-Line looked very inconsistent in the spring game. There were some holes and Dauphine and Bradwell took advantage of them, but on other plays the D-Line (which is supposed to be our weak point) pushed the O-Line into the backfield and blew up the play.

Our special teams are concerning, especially the punting. Considering there was nobody rushing or blocking, it looked horrible. I have no idea where Granier was going to fit on the depth chart, but considering UCF wanted him, he must have been able to contribute.

The coaches were counting on him to start at guard.

Thanks for the responses. Hopefully Fritz can land somebody to offset this loss, I won't hold my breath.

He couldn't turn down a chance to play for the defending national champions.
God Bless Everyone!
