I am happy for Matt, and that SLU appreciates his efforts....bigger things are on the Horizon for him....

Reportedly Matt interviewed last Friday with Rice. Would be a great pickup for the Owls, though Wayne leaves big shoes for Matt to fill.

I almost think he should hold out for a P5 job but Rice is probably the best non-P5 job out there. I don't know. I wish him the best.

I wish Matt all the best and I hope he makes the correct decision for his future... I am not totally sold on the Rice AD....

Joe Kaarlgard, Rice's AD, is definitely on the hot seat. Regardless, this would be a great move for Matt based on facilities, reputation of school and baseball program, and Houston area as a recruiting ground.

Matt ranked 3rd best coach in college baseball under 40 yrs old.

3. MATT RISER
Southeastern Louisiana (Age: 34)

Riser was the youngest Division I coach in the country for the first couple years of his tenure at Southeastern and, at 34, he’s still among the youngest. Under Riser, the Lions have become one of the Southland Conference’s most consistent teams, and he has led them to three NCAA Tournament appearances in five seasons. Southeastern’s worst finish in the Southland under Riser is fifth in 2014, his first season, and the Lions still won the conference tournament to advance to regionals. Riser’s .654 winning percentage ranks fourth in conference history.

Good question.
We are on the road a lot this year even on Tuesdays.

I was planning to go the California series in March but since they moved the Sunday game away from Dodger Stadium I canceled out. We play former coach Jewett at Southern Cal that Saturday. Look out I heard the Trojans owe us one for some Jan 2nd FB game.we beat them in

I do not think this was SLU's doing. They are playing SWAC teams in their midweek games.

Signed an extension in Jan to run through 2025, and four months later they fire him. That's how a real AD reacts.

Long time lurker here, my nephew is a pitcher at SLU. There is nothing more to the firing than he lost the team and some questionable roster moves is what I was told

Wow, all that with an 25-25 record Under that criteria, our coach should face a firing squad!!

Going into this season they had very high expectations of the team. They failed to even make the conference tournament. That's the reason.
