It is that bad. The last two seasons of offense football have been putrid.sader24 wrote:It's really atrocious. He might be the worst OC I've ever had the displeasure of watching.

But you guys realize it isn't just him, right? Montana's abilities severely limit us. Without a QB who can throw the ball effectively, there is only so much you can do from a playcalling perspective.
I agree with you but we need to adjust with what we have. Montana is not good, but with better play calling we win that game. I'm tired of Price playing conservative. It seems his play calling is just to keep it close. Its more of a playing not to lose mentality. He has NEVER been successful when his Dad is not the coach. He hurts us!
But you have to realize that Montana's limitations limit plays that we can call. Here's an example:Mandeville Wave wrote:OUG wrote:Price is not good.

Late in the half, when Montana should be working the sidelines, he can't. Why? His arm isn't strong enough to get it there without a pick 6.
Another example is that when we are inside the ten, and the defense is set up so that they'll concede the fade route, but we can't hit it because Montana can't make that throw either.
I actually thought we threw the ball too much in the first half. We should have been running it.
The defense knows Montana's limitations too, which is the problem. It makes Price's job very hard. Earlier in the season we were moving the ball and moving it well with Tanner Lee. We averaged 25 points a game with Lee and ten points a game without him. And that is WITH all of Lee's freshman INTs. There's only so much that you can do from a playcalling perspective when the passing game is not an option.
The thing is, Johnson needs a plus coordinator. That's not Price.
It isn't "all his fault" but we need a coordinator who essentially calls the entire game.
We need an OC who can compensate for CJ's weaknesses.
CJ is the over-seer and the closer in recruiting.

I can agree with this Box, and Price needs to go -- but we also need to be honest that a better OC alone will not make this offense hum. We need more from the QB position, which Lee should provide us next year.DrBox wrote:The thing is, Johnson needs a plus coordinator. That's not Price.

We definitely threw too much in the first half.
We have a chance to win this game if Lee was QB. We just try to stay close and play safe in games with Nick. I mean a 3rd and 2 and we drop back and throw a pass 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage to try to gain 2 yards that's insane.

LOL-this is the best line today!.Hell Vincent Price would do a better job.
+1000! CJ needs to reach out for a capable, creative OC & QB coach. We'll need an o-line coach & a special teams coach.OUG wrote:DrBox wrote:The thing is, Johnson needs a plus coordinator. That's not Price.

If Sumrall heads out of town next year, I am OK with that as long as Lionel stays.

You're correct; offensive line coaching horrific; QB coaching just as bad as or worse than the OC coaching.OUG wrote:Price is not good.

And all this 'talent' that CJ keeps saying is too young to play well is not as good as we have been lead to believe. Given that these coaches are UNABLE to coach up our players or to even get them to snap a ball properly all these coaches need to and be replaced by a newly hired AD who will not approve of "we do not judge by wins and losses" and who does not tolerate
poor coaching.
President Fitts , B of A , it's put up or forever hold your peace time . Make Tulane ATHLETICS relevant and top 30 again .
The team we played today won the Fiesta Bowl over Baylor last season. The last two games we played they out scored us 110-14. You are either blind or have Zero clue as to how to judge football talent. We are light years more talented then we have been in the recent past.nawlinspete wrote:You're correct; offensive line coaching horrific; QB coaching just as bad as or worse than the OC coaching.OUG wrote:Price is not good.

"...won the Fiesta Bowl last year...."
Yea, we really shut down Blake Bortles today.
Get real; this UCF team a faint shadow of last season's Fiesta Bowl winner.

Can you for once take off the RD blinders. We went in a big underdog on the road against a team that has won many straight conference games. We played much better than anyone expected.nawlinspete wrote:"...won the Fiesta Bowl last year...."

This is correct. We have significant young talent on hand. Experience is important in college football and we don't have it, and that is Bob Toledo's fault. We have a very exciting young QB (despite recent worries).tpstulane wrote: The team we played today won the Fiesta Bowl over Baylor last season. We absolutely, positively require a new offensive coordinator for next season (and QB coach for all the appropriate reasons), but if this team was well coached and had good special teams it would be likely 5-2 or better, even against the difficult schedule. We have not been "out-talented" in any game this season and it's young talent.
Look at the difference Ralph Friedgen has made for Gary Nova and the Rutgers offense. We've seen 3 QBs look lost and ineffective which is more than enough evidence to know that we're not well coached.

Guaranteed to make you feel even worse:
- We had more first downs: 17-14
- We had more total yards: 278-233
- We had more passing yards: 147-139
- We had more rushing yards: 131-94
- We had more third down conversions 5-4
- We had fewer turnovers: 2-4
- We won the time of possession game: 31:41-28:19

Pete is correct. While TU played better, UCF is nowhere near what it was a year ago.tpstulane wrote:Can you for once take off the RD blinders.
