Most of you guys here know little Joe. Please pray for him. He was on a Boy Scout trip and while in Alabama he was involved in a terrible car accident. He broke his femur and his other leg was badly lacerated. His friend that was sitting next to him was killed in the accident. His dad Vince tells us that the operation went well. He had a rod placed in his femur and is in for a long recovery. Doctor says he will miss school until after Christmas. His dad will need to make his house wheelchair accessible. So you guys may not see him at Tulane games for awhile.
Troy Dannen, Coach Fritz and Coach Rick Jones have now called and wished him well. I'll do my best to keep you posted as things progress.

This breaks my heart. Joe always had a smile and a greeting when Inrsn into him while working the home games. Prayers out. I can't imagine what he's going through.

Good kid. I remember taking a pic with him on the sidelines at The Superdome. I let him hold the down marker. He loved it

Update from his dad:

Surgery went well yesterday on the femur.

On the other leg he has a big gash and muscle tear that went to the bone.

He has two broken hands too, and a hip Bo Jackson-type thing going on, which complicates therapy.

Today they laboriously got him in a wheelchair and there were lots of screams. It was pure hell. He is suffering.

The toughest part is that he wants to play basketball, wrestling and baseball and can't do it.

He's going to need a lot of patience.

Recovery won't be easy. It will be long and hard.

We all just want to be home.
Vince.

Vince Liberto is a great guy and dad. Joseph is the type of young man you hope your son grows up to be. I am praying hard for this wonderful family.

my prayers for the family and we on Earth are saddened by this news, but God reached down with a warm and loving light, and said, "Son, it's time to come to a better place"... I now hope that warm light shines on the Family, and their Faith gives them strength.

Joseph came home this weekend. A group of volunteers from Jesuit were working on building a handicap wheelchair ramp for him.
