Wait until 2018 when he's playing on Sunday in the NFL like Rob Kelley. When he's announced he's going to say Nebraska and not Tulane. Rob say's his high school O Perry Walker. He refuses to say Tulane.

I'm wondering. How do you know that he is dissing Tulane and not merely promoting Walker? Have you asked him? Kelly "hung around" Tulane an extra year to get his college degree. Would you do that for a place you disdained? Like Lee, Kelly could have played his final year(s) at another school. What is Kelly into? Self-harm?

O Perry Walker no longer exists.
It's officially called Landry-Walker. LB Landry merged with OPW a few years back.
Oops. This is the Tanner thread. Lol

Lee won't even play at Nebraska.

We will see about that in late August. Until then why not put this thread into hibernation mode? I still think projecting Tanner as a sure fire NFL prospect is extremely premature.

Tanner Lee called "JoeCool" by coaches and teammates. The front runner for the 2017 starting job.
http://www.omaha.com/huskers/blogs/bigr ... user-share
The highest praise may come from Lee's coach — Nebraska offensive coordinator Danny Langsdorf, who had a few comments for the whole media, but expanded on them to The World-Herald.

"He's just what you're looking for," Langsdorf said. "He has been everything I thought he was going to be and more. He's got such a good personality for the position. He's smart and he knows how to handle guys and how to talk to them and get them lined up correctly. And then he puts the ball on the money. And I think anybody who does that, they like, because they trust the ball's going to be right there."

He was also called Tom Brady by coach Mike Neu. His career has been highlighted by some great work in practices interspersed with a whopping TWO games that matched the talent projected from those practices. I tell you this: Throw as many pick 6's as he did here, and he MIGHT or MIGHT NOT get a look by the CFL. It is WAY WAY WAY too premature to call Lee a surefire NFL QB. Let's let it play out and see where the chips fall the next two years, and the two following that. Certain posters here thought he would be drafted in the 2016 draft. Others said the 2017 draft. That obviously didn't happen, even if he stayed and played 2017 draft wasn't going to happen.

I can name at least a dozen QB's off the top of my head that had more talent in their little finger than Tanner Lee, but didn't do squat playing on Sundays.

Nebraska has a huge OL that will give him time. Something he never had at Tulane. He'll probably finally live up to his potential over there.

My buddy is a huge Cornhusker fan. He just sent me this article today advising most people in the Husker nation believe they'll win the Big 10 with Mr Lee at the helm. All eyes will be on Tanner with the hype that is building there. No pressure....

Link and story: http://journalstar.com/sports/huskers/f ... d558c.html

Nebraska coaches haven't been shy about touting the talent of junior transfer Tanner Lee.

Bill Devaney, the Huskers' executive director of player personnel, isn't shy about it, either.

During an appearance on the Huskers.com National Signing Day show, Devaney shared a vignette about when he first heard about Lee. At the time, Devaney was a college scout for the Atlanta Falcons.

Devaney said Lee flew under his radar until the then-Tulane quarterback took part in the Manning Academy in Louisiana and outperformed several quarterbacks, including future No. 1 draft pick Jared Goff.

"The NFL is not allowed to attend that camp, but I would call Archie (Manning) after it was over and just say, 'Give me a rundown on the guys that impressed you just throwing the ball, but more importantly the character of guys,'" said Devaney, according to HuskerOnline.com. "'How did they act?'

"Archie would always call and say, 'Here's a list of guys that are going.' Two years ago, I said, 'You don’t have the kid from Cal on there, (Jared) Goff.' Chances are he was going to be coming out as a junior, and he could throw the ball pretty good ... so he ended up inviting Goff."

After the camp, Devaney called Manning for a rundown.

"He said, 'Your guy Goff could really throw, and I'm glad he was here. But we had a boy that put him to shame. There is a boy down at Tulane named Tanner Lee.' I said, 'You've got to be kidding me. I know how Goff throws, and you're saying Tanner Lee throws the ball better?' Archie said, 'There was no comparison. You have to keep your eye on this boy from Tulane.'"

Devaney has his eye on him, all right

A lot of guys can spin the ball. The offensive line will be better, but then again the pass rush he'll face in the Big 10 will be tougher than what he faced at Tulane.

I wish nothing but health and success for Tanner Lee. He spent three years here at Tulane and tried very hard. I don't put much blame on the failures of the team on his performance.

I wish him the best. I also hope, for his sake, he breaks the pattern of being a great practice day QB and not so good game day QB.

Ditto. Tanner Lee was green and wasn't ready to be a starter on the FBS level when he was named starter for us. Lee never looked good at handling pressure or when being forced to make quick decisions. I knew he would play the way he played for us. Was it all his fault? No. Along with not being ready for his close up, he dealt with a terrible offensive line that already banged up 3 QB's before him, and a terrible offensive coordinator.

Now, he has been around the FBS game for a long time, and will be one of the older/mature guys on the field. We will see if he can showcase his weapon with a better army. Good luck to Tanner Lee and all of those who claim he will be a top NFL pick.

Looking into my crystal ball.... it's cloudy but I see something... a glimpse of the future.... I see a wealthy man with orange hair behind a podium making an announcement. I hear him saying:

"And with the fourth pick of the 2020 draft, the New Orleans Saints select the All-American QB and Heisman trophy winner from Nebraska....Tanner Lee"

Drew Brees had earlier announced his retirement along with plans to run for political office from California. If he is successful, he will be joining Bill Belichick in DC. Mr. Belichick retired from the NFL after winning his record fifth Super Bowl in 2017. He subsequently won a Massachusetts seat in the House of Representatives as a member of the Socialist Party.

The first three 2020 draft picks belonged to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Los Angeles Jaguars, and the Los Angeles Rams (the three worst teams in football).

Oh BTW, the wealthy guy with the orange hair is Donald Trump. Bored with the presidency, he resigned in order to compete on Dancing With The Stars. After winning the competition with a dazzling display of side-steps, he announced that he always wanted to buy the NFL. "I could make it HUUUGE!".

I hope he tears it up and once again shows just how stupid Tulane is when it comes to decisions within the athletic dept regardless of who is in charge.

Tanner Lee was a raw talent when he came to Tulane. At Jesuit he really didn't play much as a Jr. He didn't develop his skills much at Tulane. He was hurt or had concussions every year. Should he get the protection a dropback QB needs, he'll flourish for the Cornhuskers.

Yes, that's right. It was Tulane's decision to send Tanner Lee to Nebraska. Yeah, you right. Dumb decision by Tulane.

That would be following Tanner Lee's 7th year in college and fourth at Nebraska. I think not.

Fox 8 just did a nice story on Lee. He's expected to start in the Fall. He credits his dad with reading the NCAA rule book on gaining another year of eligibility.
