Tanner Lee
Actually a Johnson Treaty and yes I saw what you were doing there.Eaglewave wrote:A Price Treaty.sader24 wrote:Let's just end this discussion and all agree that it doesnt matter who is under center, our offense will be bad.

I wonder if we might have been better all along starting Darion Monroe at QB as a soph and running spread/option. We have backs all over who can't get there hands on the ball and OL that can't protect. I didn't see Monroe play QB when he was in High School but I've heard he was pretty good. Houston turned a WR into a QB in 1 offseason. Seems to be working for them. Couldn't be worse.

Not sure if we would have won more games but we'd probably have a few posters calling him the next Michael Vick. Oh wait, he went to ESJ and not Jesuit. People would have said he sucked.

If Lee's not cleared it looks like Joseph will get his first start since Powell has a bruised arm.

I am sorry, but Powell is terrible, he should never play a D1 FBall game again. Harsh but true. Still doesn't know the playbook, only at Tulane.winwave wrote:If Lee's not cleared it looks like Joseph will get his first start since Powell has a bruised arm.

Sad but true. Even CJ mentioned that he shrunk the playbook last week for Powell.mbawavefan12 wrote:I am sorry, but Powell is terrible, he should never play a D1 FBall game again. Harsh but true. Lee is cleared to play.

I don't think he is terrible. Against ULL, he showed signs of a playmaker. However, he is a product of Price's offense.mbawavefan12 wrote:I am sorry, but Powell is terrible, he should never play a D1 FBall game again. Harsh but true. With that being said, I would have loved to see Jordy start this week.

He's pretty bad, IMO. The one thing I'll give him is he seems tough to bring down. As far as his playmaking ability, I just think that was a sunbelt defense that wasn't very good and there were some fluky plays that day.Eaglewave wrote:I don't think he is terrible. Powell is weak but some of the negative comments are extreme. There were several drops and alligator arms by receivers last week. Breaux made a bad play on a ball that should have been a TD. The problem he has is the playbook and he really seems to just be able to focus only on one receiver. Not to mention he didn't go to Jesuit or Brother Martin so he doesn't get the mulligans from some that Lee is provided even though he protects the ball better and has better pocket awareness.
Thank you Greenphantom! I don't know why so many people are fascinated with Lee being so great. Look at his W-L record. Powell has some weaknesses, but the coaches have no clue in how to play him. The screen passes , or drinks to the RBs , are not his strong suit. So Price should have quit calling that dam play early on. He has a better deep ball that was barely called. They kept doing out routes,WTF?! What would have worked is passes over the middle to the TE or long fly patterns. What those aren't open, tell Powell to run!! Would have opened up the running game. What is pathetic is CJ throwing the young man under the bus saying they had to dumb down the playbook for him. He can't be that stupid, he's at Tulane and hasn't had academic issues. Besides, there is such thing as using a wrist band with the plays on it.

If Lee had a similar game, the Tanner Crew would be on here making Toledo-esque excuses. Sore arm, WR fell down, Terrible OL, bad coaching, etc.wavemania wrote:Thank you Greenphantom! Some of you truly are nuts. What Jesuit or Brother Martin has to do with Devin Powell being very inaccurate I have no idea. Lee at least has potential and throws a good ball, by no means have I said anywhere that he has played great. Ya'll can drop the Catholic League B.S. b/c it has nothing to do with anything. I just want to win no matter who is behind the center. I also don't think we will win with any of our QB's behind center.

If it's not Catholic League bias, its something else as I've never seen so many excuses made or praises heaped upon a QB currently rated 11th in the conference, even with 2 games included against Maine and UCF. The Lee cheerleaders will constantly bring up his good performance against a mediocre Houston team in 2014 but when Powell plays a much better 2015 Houston team, all we hear is how bad Houston's defense is even though they are ranked #4 in the league.sader24 wrote:Some of you truly are nuts. If you people think Tulane has a better shot at winning with Powell than with Lee you are nuts. By no means am I saying Tanner will lead Tulane to a bowl game this year but I am certain Powell won't. There is so much more wrong with this team than just who is at quarterback.

I was channel surfing on Sirius trying to find the Tulane vs. Navy game, when I happened upon a "College Football Today" show that was talking QB's. They discussed two or three in the SEC, and then said that the AAC has two or three better than any in the SEC. They then went around the AAC, and (I'm not kidding) they laughed when they got to Tulane and Tanner Lee.Dupergreenie wrote:If you people think Tulane has a better shot at winning with Powell than with Lee you are nuts. "That young man has a live arm, but is either shell shocked, or is just not coached up enough to make good decisions. He makes too many really bad throws, then makes some spectacular throws." The other guy chipped in "But the QB is not the problem with Tulane, they have issues all over the field. I'm not at all impressed with their coaching."
I couldn't agree more. And yes, I'm in the camp that thinks Devin Powell is far from a D1 QB. At the same time, Tanner Lee is far from an NFL prospect, no matter how many times it's said here that he is one. Maybe with a change of coaches he'll become one. But they literally laughed when they discussed Tanner and Tulane football.
Please, President Fitts, hire a new AD before the end of this semester, and let him change football coaches. We can't afford to wait until June, that would give CJ another year, or have RD hiring the next coach. Both are poor choices.

Devin Powell and Tanner Lee both are being gutted by the poor play calling of Price. Both have regressed with this poor coaching staff as well. Powell looked better in the game and at practice when Neu was coaching him. Lee looks like his mojo left him after the Tulsa game last season.
At this point, I would start Jordy over them. Jordy knows the playbook better than Price. We aren't going bowling, so we might as well allow Lee to heal mentally and physically for next season. Unless we hire a new OC who comes in with a spread playbook, Powell needs to transfer to Nicholls State of the Southland, or Mississippi Valley State of the SWAC.

I agree that Powell needs to transfer. He isn't being used correctly at Tulane. He needs to go to a offense that stays in the gun.
Price needs to be fired.
I was watching the Tulane game with a bunch of LSU guys on Saturday. They all said they wish they had Tanner Lee under center instead of Brandon Harris and they thought he was an NFL QB. This was at halftime, I didn't get to see the 2nd half since we went to a bar that wasn't showing the Tulane game.
