Fall ball starts Friday October 6
Does anyone know the schedule for practice?
I am hoping there is an early practice Saturday before the Tulsa football game

Regular schedule times
We are typically set to begin training at 3pm Tues-Friday, with varying times on the weekend based on the football schedule, and Mondays as our off days.
Pretty much the same as last year

Update on the start of Fall Ball
With tropical storm Nate heading toward our area, we will be moving the start of fall ball to Tuesday, October 10th.
Practice will be at Tulane on Friday (with limited access due to HOF ceremony) and we will not be practicing on Saturday due to game being moved up nor on Sunday.
A press release will be going out shortly but just wanted to give you a heads up

Due to “Hurricane Nate” the start of Fall Ball was moved to Tuesday Oct 10
After 2 grueling practices the team will take 5 days off for “Fall Break”

All I can say about the first practice
Do you remember the Abbott and Costello baseball routine?
Who’s on first?
I don’t know
Third base
Players don’t have numbers on their jerseys
Until you can recognize them it’s
Who’s on first

Biggest take from the first day of practice is we will have no shortage of catchers and the first weekend series we will all be asking “who is that guy? “. Plenty new faces.

How’s our power. We lost all just about all our HR power. Do you think we will go small ball this year? Thanks.

Kody Hoese and Acy Owens went deep
Mostly singles maybe two doubles, but it's the first scrimmage
We definitely have some tall players but most are thin. They need to hit the weights

There was a scout from Tampa Bay at practice Wednesday checking out Spoon
It’s still too early to say who will be the starters come February but here are some who are pushing for playing time
Hoese at 3b
Artigues at 2b
Gozzo at ss
Mangurian at 1b
Acy Owen at C
Heinrichs in RF
Spoon in CF
Kobi Owen in LF
Ross Massey is looking like freshman Massey
Trent Johnson and Kaleb Roper could be weekend starters
David Bedgood will work his way into play at 2b
First base has good competition Grant Matthews, Will Mangurian battling for starting
Trent Jensen will work his way into the lineup in the infield
We do have talent which is a good thing
We have 4 catchers 2 JUCOS and 2 freshmen
No shortage of pitching
The biggest problem is we have 40 men on the roster and must get down to 35. Someone with talent will have to grey shirt
We have 2 big lefthanders who will be coming in the spring and 1 big righthander who is recovering from TJ surgery that are not on the roster
The Fall World Series is tentatively set for November 10-19 which will be played like the regular season. Games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday then a midweek game followed by another weekend series
Eddie Smith the replacement for Billy Jones has gone through the hiring process and is now at practice
February can’t get here soon enough

Game 5 is ser for 4:00 Friday with the Saturday game moved up to 9:40 due to the football kickoff at 3:00
The final game and the end to fall practice will be 10:00 Sunday morning
Probable starters for Friday are Ross Massey for the Green team and Trent Johnson for the White team

Chain, is it safe to stay that Green Wave baseball has stabilized, perhaps "weathered the storm" so to speak?

Why would it be safe to say that? The team hasn't even played a game yet.

I’m talking from a program standpoint. Recruiting, players on the same page, no more internal strife, etc.

The teams seems to be more relaxed. Credit this to coach Jewett. He has lightened up on some of his team rules especially the facial hair. I will say the players have bought into his system. We now have more first year players then players from last year. Scrimmages have been spirited since there is competition for starting positions. The only position that is set is Spoon in centerfield. For the first game this year everyone will be asking “who is that guy”?
Only time will tell if the team has stabilized. Coach Jewett received 12 NLI during the recent signing period and has three commitments for the following year.

Chainman, you know better since you're there and I'm just reading, but I'd think Gozzo is a safe bet to keep his starting job at shortstop. It would mean a whole lot to this team to have Massey return to form. I seem to remember his summer league stats to be very pedestrian, though.

Right now Gozzo is the leader at SS
Artigues is also playing SS and is hitting better then Gozzo
Jensen played SS last year for his JUCO team
Word is Jensen may play 1B
I can see Gozzo at SS and Artigues at 2B
Galy and Bedgood have been playing 2B but neither is hitting right now
All these guys are playing hard because they know 5 of them will not be on the roster come January
Ross had a good outing last Friday except for one inning and seems to have regained his confidence but he is still not the freshman Massey
He should pitch again this weekend

Green Team takes Angry Wave Series with a 2-0 win over the White Team
Keagan Gillies started for Green Team pitching 6 strong innings
Freshman Justin Campbell came in for the save
Freshman Connor Pellerin started for the White Team although pitching effectively he took the loss
Jonathon Artigues continued his hot hitting with an RBI single
