Lucky for us their QB isn't good. They had a lot of wide open receivers that he missed. We have a lot of work to do.

It looks like officials cost Tulane a chance at winning the game. Granted, the offense wasn't that productive after Banks left, but there was still a chance that was lost.

and then there was this one

for those who would like to voice their displeasure with the officials....401-244-3278....I called, a nice lady answered the phone, the person in charge of football officials was not in, I told the Lady he should not be in ever again since he should be fired... she was happy to connect me with Scot Draper deputy commisoner for Football operations...Aresco was not in, he was most probably having out patient surgery to remove Chet Gladchuks head out of his ass....

The offense did very little until Banks got hurt. Not that Banks leaving the game was what got the offense going, but Brantley brought a much needed spark.

Brantley looked much quicker. I actually think he pitched the ball in a few situations when he should have taken it himself. I was impressed with him, but he is small. I just really don't like how much we run the ball, it is going to hurt recruiting.

I agree, but I also think that Fritz, if he had the right players in place, would much rather have a split that approaches 50/50. One of his years at Sam Houston State his offense was very close to 50/50 and they went to the FCS championship game.

You don't have to think, he's said that on any number of occasions. Most recently I heard him say he'd like to see a 300/200 split. 300 rushing yards, 200 passing yards. Once he gets the right people in place, you'll see more than 12-13 passes in a game. Also, its really hard to judge this season. So far we've played Grambling, so there was no reason to show anything, and Navy, whom shortens the game by at least two-three possessions per team, so 13 passes is to be expected. Against a regular team with a faster pace and more possessions, you'd have seen 17-20 passes. I don't have a problem at all with 20 passes a game, if they come at the right times and result in points and wins.

Brantley certainly was a spark. He is our best equipped QB to handle the triple option portion of this offense. He is throwing much better now that' he's healthy and his shoulder is fine. Brantely was efficient for the few attempts he got. As for the last batted down pass he thought that LB was going to blitz but then he dropped back . He's young and will learn from it. Fritz needs to stop being so risk averse. Two years in a row we were plus 2 in the turnover column against them but lost both times. He had never done that before. He's going to have to be willing to put it up more or we will have a long season.

I mentioned this in an earlier post, but we had a repeat from last year's game. Last year's Navy game the offense was stale and couldn't move the ball with GC and then Fritz put in Brantley and we were all of sudden moving the ball.
