Just to prove how terrible the basketball OOC is this year, these are the basketball rankings (final KenPom) of the baseball schools we're playing. There's really no reason we shouldn't be forcing the SEC teams who want to schedule our baseball to play us in basketball.

Wright State (164)
Ole Miss (74)
Lamar (226)
Cal St. Fullerton (261)
UNO (178)
SELA (231)
Purdue (19)
ULL (146)
Long Beach ST (225)
LSU (172)
East TN ST (67)
Texas Southern (212)
Average KenPom: 164.5

Compared to actual Basketball OOC: https://twitter.com/FearTheWaveBlog/sta ... 1860736002 Average KenPom: 209.1

The pitching staff needs to come together fast. We have two weeks in a row with 5 games early in the season when pitchers are usually on a pitch count.

This is an outstanding Baseball schedule, one of the best I have seen. Hopefully we have the guys who can win against this competition.

For sure. Going to learn a lot early on about this club with that schedule.

Very surprised to not see Mississippi State on your schedule. I figured Cannizaro would want to play his alma mater and throw in the fact that we won't have our new stadium playable until March, a nearby road series @Tulane would seemingly do both of us good.

In the future this may be a home and home 3 game series...but at this time there are still raw feelings by many in NOLA and I am sure withing Andy's family, so it may be too early to have this scheduled...All the best to Andy, his staff and players....

It actually isn't the least bit surprising. A sweep by either side is going to look real bad, especially for Tulane.

21-24 with 11 regular season games remaining. Anything short of an NCAA appearance and it’s time for a change.

Tulane RPI SOS is the highest I can locate (2018 rank #9).
I suppose that explains a portion of the issues this year (22-27).
But 81 RPI is not acceptable.

The data I found during the past several years:

YEAR..........RPI..............SOS...............Record
2017............82.................20..................27-31
2016...........33...................61...................41-21
2015..........49...................45....................35-25
2014.........148..................57....................23-29
2013.........128..................96....................30-28
2012..........63..................150..................38-20
2011..........79.....................67...................31-26
2010..........86..................126...................32-24
2009..........64....................61....................34-25
2008...........45....................59..................39-22
2007...........99..................128...................34-26

I recall years back when a poor SOS was a complaint....watch what you wish for you just might get it. ;)

TJ has competed against the highest two year SOS I've seen. I would expect the WL record to suffer accordingly.

Thanks for the numbers, but SOS and RPI have nothing to do with our pitching and fielding problems.

Amen, Steve. We've invented new ways to lose games. The walk off wild pitch, for example.

Well, back to back losing regular seasons. We haven't pulled this off since 1963-1964.

And our chances of pulling off the miracle AAC Tournament victory are slim. We don't have the pitching to win four games in 5 days. You cannot count on all your players having their best games at the same time, it just doesn't work that way in baseball.

I would love to eat crow on this post, but I just don't see it happening.
