In the article he says Colletti has the most innings among returning relievers but actually it is Bjorngjeld w/20.

Turf looks good in person. The Angry Wave logo is very visible.

Watched 6 innings. Merrill and Massey were good, bats need plenty of work. Hope looked lost at the plate. Field looks ok, not a fan of the stripes and turf mounds but I love the slugger bird logo.

It was set to go 6 innings. I was there for 5/1/2.

Blue team:

Hope,3b: 0-3 3k's,1st looking, the other two swinging
Spoon,1b: 2-3
Rowland,LF: 0-2,1k
Willsey,2b: 0-2
S.Gozzo,SS: 0-1, two walks
Brown,CF:0-2,1k
P.Gozzo,C: 0-2,SF
Kirsch,RF: 1-3,

Pitching:

Massey went 4,1 hit, no runs, 3W's,3K's
While I was there Solesky went 1,1 hit, no runs, no walks , 1k

Green team:
Kaplan,CF: 1-2, double to center
Dehart,lF: 0-3
Montalbano,C: O-2 while I was there, obviously ended up 1-3 w/a two run homer
Heinrichs,RF: 0-3, two k's
Hoese,SS: 0-2
Galy, 2b: 0-2
Artigues,3b: 1-1
Mathews,1b: 0-2

Pitching:

Merrill went 4 ,2 hits, no runs, 2 W's, 6K's- No doubt the Friday night starter

Bjorngjeld went 1: 1 hit, 0 runs, 0 W's, 1K
Oakley went 1: 0 hits,1 run, 2 W's, 0 K's

Merrill was really on. Looks to be in good shape. Massey was solid. Bjorngjeld looked good. Oakley came in and walked two. The pitching coach came out and talked to him and he seemed to try and take something off his pitches to get control. He then threw a wild pitch to the backstop that allowed both runners to move up. That led to Paul Gozzo's SF.

In the first there was strike 'em out throw 'em out. Willsey struck out and Montalbano threw Spoon out trying to go to third. Also in the first Brown walked. P. Gozzo then hit a fly ball to right that Brown ended up getting thrown out at first as he didn't get back in time. In the 2nd Artigues was caught off 1st after a pitch. Paul Gozzo threw to first in the dirt and he made it to second. In the third Galy made a nice stab of shot up the middle by Kirsch but could't nail him at 1st. In the 5th there was a high pop up behind the plate near the backstop. Montalbano miss judged it and ended up flat on his back. Clearly has some rust to knock off back there.Glad he was able to win it on his homer as per others.

On edit: In my practice report I originally posted that Gozzo had that throw out at third. It was Montalbano.

I need to add that there was a lot of sand kicking up on balls hit in the infield. Someone I think would be in the knew said they are going to pull up the infield turf and correct that.

Not pulling it up, vacuuming the sand up using a special machine then adding less and leveling it. Need a soaking rain after to make it better.

Maybe he just doesn't realize how good Merrill and Massey are?

That's the problem with a scrimmage you have a good news bad news situation
Good news our pitching is great
Bad news our hitting sucks
You can't have it both ways
