Memphis was down 13-3 and came back to win 34-27. They had their best LB get hurt. They benefitted from some bad reffing. Glad we ended up w/the Bye Week before this game. Long travel home from UMASS followed by travel to play UCF on a short week would have been tough and taken a toll. Looking forward to the Wave taking advantage of this.

Memphis scored two TDs on a pick 6 and a Kick-off return. The Memphis O looked anemic most of the night and as winwave mentioned benefited from some questionable calls. Temple suffered many WR drops and their previously consistent kicker took the night off. Temple gave this one away. If we can get a pass rush on the Memphis QB who is relatively immobile we have a chance to win this week.

Charles Jones going to be out for a while. Townsend moved there along w/John Washington doubling up at guard and TE.

Pass defense to be tested:

http://www.nola.com/tulane/index.ssf/20 ... iver_index

We have had players get behind our secondary all season but fortunately haven't faced any quality passers. That changes this week. Hopefully our line continues to bring the heat and helps out the DB's.

David Johnson gives Memphis an edge:

They also have Kwan Drake on their staff. He coached our D-Line and is an offensive intern w/them.

David was one of my favorite members of CJ's staff. He's a good guy.

And Drake was one of the members who couldn't spell Tulane.

Having other college students coming free is not the brainchild of Dannen. It's always been since day one of Yulman. It just that once the newness wore off and the losing began no other school's student cared about free tickets. Tony Garrett (Head of the Aspire Group) got it started. I know because I gave him the idea and he ran with it. If student tickets still remained they were offered first come first serve to Loyola and then other schools. Hopefully all our TU students use up our allotment in the future. I think it's great and should be expanded if necessary. Most of the other school student grads are likely to stay in NOLA. Need to pack Yulman anyway possible.

Some more misinformation in that story:
(33,000 seats in Yulman)
That was after 39 years of playing its home games in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, a venue with a seating capacity more than twice the 33,000 seats in Yulman, and where the crowds for Tulane games were often lost amid seas of empty seats.

For 1997 & 1998 I did not hear one person complain about the Dome? And then, Scott (Cowen) took over the program. :shakingno:

For 1979 & 1980 I didn't hear a single person complain about the Dome either.

Can we keep one thread from going down the path of whether or not we should have built Yulman? It's here to stay, suck it up and deal with it.

Having lived in Memphis, the commercial appeal is about as good as the TP is in terms of a paper and coverage. It is refreshing that they cover Memphis a lot more as opposed to Ole miss/ UT in football season and Memphis only in bball season. Beat Memphis! Roll damn wave!

I still give the Memphis paper credit for the best sports related Front Page...that is FRONT Page...not page 1 of the sports section
