Just for reference, last year Temple was rated the second highest of all the AAC teams, behind only SMU (#34). Temple was #72. They had a record of 24-8 including 15-3 at home.

Tulane, on the other hand, Tulane was rated second lowest of all the AAC teams, at #237, ahead of only ECU (#254). We were 10-22, including 7-8 at home. And, we were 0-12 on the road.

Any way you slice it, this was a good win.

Wave drops set 3, 14-25, and set four 23-25. UConn wins the match, 3-1. Wave now 9-5 on season, 1-1 in the AAC. UConn now 11-2 on season, 2-0 in AAC.

Home to host SMU next week on Sept 30th. SMU is the top rated team in the AAC.

I just got back in town and looking forward to seeing Tulane play SMU tomorrow.
Tulane beat #2 Temple and lose to UCONN on the road. Temple then played UCONN and beat them. Now SMU comes here in 1st place. Time to knock them off to. Going to be a very interesting conference race.

Glad Tulane is in the middle of it!!

Tulane whipped the #1 team in the league for 2 games, then couldn't finish them off losing in 5 games. Don't think I've ever seen a team who was in last place last year dominate the top team the next year like that. Too bad Juric got hurt and they didn't finish SMU off. Hope it's not to bad.

Big conference win at home for the Wave. Really impressive they did it without Tea Juric. Hope she comes back soon. How they knocked off Tulsa who was 11-2 and has a rpi around 37, without their big gun is huge. Surprised more Tulane fans aren't talking about this.
Tulane was 10-22 last year. They are 10-6 right now. Likely will double their win total.

Is she the one who was injured in the first tournament?

I don't think so. That was Sarah Strastner.

I saw the game online against SMU when Juric went down. Tulane was up 2-0 and beating SMU very solidly then she looked like she turned her ankle. Had to be helped off the court. Then SMU turned it on and pulled the match out in 5 games.

Didn't think they would beat Tulsa with out her. Tulsa's record is really good.
Amazing job this team is doing and a great story on turning it around in one season.

Quick recap-Tulane football cancelled travel, State of Emergency in Florida, CNN continues to report unpredictability of Hurricane Matthew, Tulane Athletics posts they are all about the safety of their athletes and, wait for it-Tulane volleyball decides to risk their players and heads to Florida. Bonehead decision and interesting way to treat the so called "family" by Tulane volleyball coaching staff.

Pretty sure that's a conference and administration decision. With a top player still banged up would have a been a good time for a weekend off.

USF is still having all its outdoor athletic events on schedule and it's homecoming parade today. So must not be so bad in Tampa.

Interesting from UCF:

"I think Tulane is the surprise team of the year," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "Coach Barnes took over that role this year. We always knew that Tulane had the makings of being an excellent team and (Barnes) is starting to put those ingredients together. I can guarantee that Tulane is going to come in here and be on fire, wanting to beat us."

Kirk is a obvious disgruntled former parent.

What team wouldn't want a break in the middle of the season. Especially if a player is injured as the above post points out.

These are decisions made by the top of the university and conference.

Looks like 4 VB teams are in Tampa to play this weekend.

As TD said about the football game the host school makes the call.

And if you check, its Friday afternoon and the storm has cleared Orlando. Even the last rain bands are just about out of the area. And Tampa's on the west coast, hardly a problem. There was never a situation where the storm might cross Florida to the west side.

If you're actually paying attention to CNN, you know the only "unpredictability" regarding Matthew is if it will even make landfall, and whether it will be GA/SC or not at all. Orlando is in the clear, and Tampa was NEVER at risk.

Putting athletes at risk is NEVER acceptable. Glad some think they can predict the weather. Good for you.

My daughter evacuated from her apartment a mile from UCF and went to Tampa where her mother lives. She said it was a little windy and they had a few showers, but never anything resembling a tropical storm. UCF was hit with some rain and more wind, but nothing close to hurricane force winds. Going to Tampa this afternoon was NOT putting athletes in harm's way.

Hope they come home with two more in the win column.

You're a fool. If you check back, the NHC pretty much had this one pegged the whole way. A week ago they were projecting it to curve and scrape the coast, just like its doing. These guys know what they're doing.
