Danny White current AD at Buffalo.

Tulane job could be a real plum if the administration gives the needed support. Otherwise we end up with another RD.
White is a facility fanatic. Checkout the new facilities he got built at Buffalo.

The big "if." We will learn everything we need to know about Fitts with this hire.

We need to act fast because like his brother Mike White he is not going to remain at a school like Buffalo for long.

I would have White at the top of the list. Then Warde Manuel.

Anyone find it a little odd that Rick Dickson would give such a lengthy notice? Why eight months? There has to be some significance to the May 2016 date. My guess is that no real search will begin until after the first of the year.

If I were president I would have Danny White in my office Monday morning with a contract offer in his hands. Once he accepts I'd pay RD what he's owed and have White start immediately thereafter. This job needs to be filled ASAP with the best available person (White) IMO.

I agree...give RD a years pass to the City Park Tennis Courts... confiscate his employee credentials and parking pass, and escort him from the property ASAP ! That will send a big notice to several people who he hired...

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

I would put Danny White near the top of the list. His dad Kevin was one of our great ADs with Chet now AD at Duke. Both would take you out to lunch even if you gave no dollars to TU athletics and treat you like a multi million dollar donor. Sadly Rick Dickson,Cowen and now Fitts never did that. The three will not return your telephone calls or emails. Danny cannot use the Tulane job as a stepping stone to a larger conference! We need the top athletic people on the board Mrs. Benson, our Chairman Berger , the Manchester United owners' wife etc to be on the selection committee to hire the best young candidate available.

In my opinion, one call should be made... Rick Jones! There is nobody that knows this athletic program more than RJ. He has always been 100% committed to the university and would be a great fit.

LOL at thinking Manuel would leave UConn for Tulane. He has a very near future somewhere in the P5.

I agree but he may want to come home. The pull of NOLA is just that strong.

The worst possible thing Tulane can do is wait and think they have all the way until May 2016 to hire someone. They did this on the last football search.

Mackel also suggested Scott Sidwell, another solid candidate.

No to Sidwell. He was the point man on the lie that Tulane did a poll and the fans wanted football games at 1pm. He's done nothing to merit consideration. Plus if a Mackel wants them you know it's wrong.

Just to be clear, didn't everyone say that about keeping Dickson after Fitts first year? Let's just forget about that and lower the bar again.

BTW if Burke doesn't get the job, meaning she could be replaced by the incoming AD, less than a year after moving her family to NOLA, then she ain't too bright.

Rick Dickson's succession plans should have been a clear part of the process of hiring Burke.

That there isn't already a list of candidates is a pretty clear indication of an incompetent organization. Of course, we already knew that.

He's done a good job at USF, that merits consideration.
