I'm surprised we are sending 21 current players off to summer leagues. I wonder how many will return back to Tulane in the fall. No Grant Brown on the list?
Be proactive, being reactive is for losers..

He may still be recovering from his surgery.

We need Pierce to find 300 percent much better players than he inherited to compete with U La La and LSU A&M. Will take time . Pierce can do it. Summer leagues mean nothing unless you have the top college baseball players in the nation in it.

NEW ORLEANS -- Week two of summer baseball leagues around the country have concluded, and Tulane's players that are scattered across the nation are continuing to put up impressive numbers.

Jeremy Montalbano hit 2 home runs last week
It would be nice if he can play 1b and DH also be the backup catcher for Rogers

I spent a lot of time talking to him this past season in the bullpen,good kid looking for him to have a breakout year

Highlights form Summer Leagues

Lex Kaplan and Jeremy Montalbano are both doing good in the California League. Jeremy is hitting .313 has 7 HR 8 doubles 1 triple. Lex is hitting .337 7 doubles 1 triple 2 HR 6 SB

Emerson Gibbs has zero base on balls in 43 innings pitched 30 K's

Jackson Johnson hitting .429 with 11 SB

Jake Rogers hitting .274 with 3 HR

Richard Carthon hitting .306 6 doubles 2 triples 8 SB

Tim Yandel 1.29 ERA 48.2 innings pitched 10 BB 38 K's

This may be the last posting as most of the leagues are now finished and the guys are returning home to start school

Overall it was a productive summer and I'm sure Coach Pierce has been monitoring their progress

All the summer leagues are now complete

Congratulations to Emerson Gibbs, Chris Oakley, Hunter Williams and Jackson Johnson for helping their teams win their titles

Super congratulations to Jeremy Montalbano he was named the MVP of the California league batting .297 with 7 HR and 38 RBI
Looks like a good candidate to DH next year and relieve Jake Rogers behind the plate

Can't wait for next baseball season
