Just finished watching media day. Players sound much more relaxed than in years past. Coach Pierce stated that he wants to give the players all the information they need to succeed and let them go play. He also said there are quite a few position battles going on. 6 pitchers are competing for the 4 starting spots. Massey and Merrill will be 2 of them so that really leaves 4 for the last 2 spots. Looks like Coach really likes Hunter Williams so I would look to see him in the starting lineup at either 1B or DH.

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

Great articles today on the front page and a following page of the sports section of the New Orleans Advocate on Coach Pierce and the baseball team. Everyone needs to read it. I am excited for the direction of his program.

@KendallRogersD1: .@GreenWaveBSB HC David Pierce says #Tulane will move RHP Ian Gibaut to the rotation. Gibaut was up to 95-96 in fall w/ SL/CH mix #mlbdraft

I agree with this 100%. Gibaut is our best arm and we need to get the most out of him.
Kendall is also going to have a write up on D1baseball later today.

My guess at our pitching rotation to start the season

Massey-Fri
Gibaut-Sat
Merrill-Sun

Also think either France or Duester will start midweek.

Great article, thanks for posting the link, Tim. RJ is a class act. Kudo's to Coach Pierce for inviting him to the alumni game.

Great day for baseball. Grant Brown lined one into the left field net. Gotta realize that the alumni weren't killing it out there but, overall, it was a good outing for everybody.

Very happy they kept the alumni game going. The relationship between Tulane, Tulane baseball and the baseball alumni is special. some coaches are insecure about things like this (and the results on the field eventually display their insecurities)....kind of like Tulane basketball since the Perry Clark era.

Also very happy that Gibaut will start. Give the best arm on the team as many innings as possible.

As we prepare to watch the proceedings in Omaha,I have a question for some fellow Tulane fans.During last week's Baton Rouge super regional, the ESPN announcers stated that if one were constructing a "Mt Rushmore of college baseball coaches in Louisiana" it would include Bertman ,Mainieri and Rick Jones. The Rick Jones they speak of can't POSSIBLY be the same guy who gets bashed on these idiot boards on a regular basis, can it??Just askin'.
