It has absolutely nothing to do w/Trump and everything to do w/our change in branding that started well before the election results.

Right. I too prefer the football but I get why they are using the megaphone.
The TV audience doesn't see all that. They will see that Angry Wave a lot.

The stuff all over the stadium isn't seen. There really isn't that much. Midfield gets a lot of coverage. I guess if your logo reaches iconic status, it doesn't need a name. ND Fighting Irish mascot and LSU Eye of the Tiger have no team identifier of any kind. I'd vote for a simple Angry Wave but at least AW carrying a Tulane megaphone looks better than a Tulane pennant. Regardless, glad AW is back both on the Yulman Field and I guess on top of the student section too, thanks to Blaine Kern.

I know it sounds strange to some of us but it's workable and quite common. I've seen large playing fields built on top of garages at UT in Austin and on top of piers in Manhattan among others. I assume NIMBY stuff will make it no higher than Yulman but that leaves alot of space below for building operations.winwave wrote:I have known this for awhile but had to keep it to myself. Nothing against Olympic Village location but at end of day who wants to be off campus?

Same here. Oh yea how's that Olympic Village fund raising going? "Show Me" the money. Good luck raising $35-40 million for a on campus practice facility. We struggled to raise the funds needed for a on campus stadium. It will take Tulane forever to get that amount of money raised for a football operations facility. When the first piling drops I'll believe it to. Otherwise it's just talk.golfnut69 wrote:when the first pilling drops, I will believe itwinwave wrote:I have known this for awhile but had to keep it to myself. We will get to see how well Dannen is at fundraising for a major project. It will be much easier to sell if Football starts winning soon. My idea would be to build a football operations building on the practice field and stick an upper level of bleachers into the side of the building overlooking the Stadium and this could increase capacity from 3,000-5,000 seats depending on how ambitious the project is.Show Me wrote:Same here. The football ops. building had to be top priority and from the beginning i've said it needs to be on campus. As for the Olympic Village there's a reason that land was donated. It has a drainage canal running right through the middle of it.lurker123 wrote:I know it sounds strange to some of us but it's workable and quite common. I've seen the plans and they call for the facility to be built where Mintz field is. It's going to be an all glass building. The Wilson Center building is going to stay. The plans look awesome. The target fund raising goal is $36 million. The only problem with the extra bleacher seating that may be provided will be in end zone. IMO we need to expand premium seating areas.JerseyWave wrote:We will get to see how well Dannen is at fundraising for a major project. It will be much easier to sell if Football starts winning soon. Absolutely, the west side of the Stadium should be built up first so it doesn't have that high school feel to it. It spells small time football and has to hurt recruiting. Does not look or feel like major college football and that embarrassment of a press box should be demolished and rebuilt much bigger.tpstulane wrote:I've seen the plans and they call for the facility to be built where Mintz field is. Press box should be put on top of Reilly. You may think it's embarrassing but virtually no stadium today gives prime viewing space to the press. Not in arenas, not in baseball nor football stadiums. At the NBA or Stanley Cup finals, you will literally see reporters in the rafters just under the roof. The last several World Series most of the working press has been put in the highest part of the upper decks above left field. These folks are now always way off line and given nose bleed seats. They all watch TV replays anyway so it's not like they won't know what's happening. You sometimes see modest solutions like the Yulman east side ad hoc addition to accommodate PBP folks but that's about it.
Either convert the press box to luxury suites or add more regular seating to expand capacity. You can still set aside a small section for the coaches if it's that critical to you.

Funny! The yoggies are having a discussion that the water spray to come from the "Angry Wave" to be installed above the scoreboard in Yulman may cause "Legionaires Disease." You can't make this stuff up!

I really don;t understand the point of spraying water on fans. I mean, if it is a hot night/day I guess, other then that it just seems weird. IDK. Someone is going to have to explain the appeal to me.

I don't think our stadium sucks. It's really a solid "metro" looking stadium. The only thing that stops it from being "beautiful" is that woeful visiting side.nawlinspete wrote:It is an attempt to take our minds off the fact that Yulman sucks.mbawavefan12 wrote:I really don;t understand the point of spraying water on fans. It will be interesting to see how they'll do this. Will it be a mist spray like the Vegas Casino's or will it be a deluge? How many co-eds will be inclined to subject their Saturday night face to a random washdown? Isn't the band down there?mbawavefan12 wrote:I really don;t understand the point of spraying water on fans. The optics of the West side bleachers on television is real, real bad. The minute this program starts winning our President & AD need to sit down with the NIMBY's to develop a plan for the west side bleachers.
The stadium per se' does not suck...but the hemorrhoids who allowed it to be built in it's current configuration, including the NIMBY's and elected officials not only suck, but need a blindfold, cigarette and dawns early light....ready....aim.....Wave QB wrote:I don't think our stadium sucks.
