Glad we won. UTEP is awful. Their defense looks like a high school team.

Great way to end our time in the Dome. Weren't nearly enough wins like this in the past 38 years.

Two-team or multiple team tie for divisional champion
1. Highest regular season winning percentage based on overall Conference USA play.
2. If tied, head to head between tied teams.
3. If still tied, highest winning percentage within division.
4. If still tied, compare records against divisional opponents in descending order of finish.
5. If still tied, compare records with common cross-divisional opponents.
6. If still tied, compare records against cross-divisional opponents in descending order of
finish.
7. If still tied, team with highest BCS ranking.
8. If still tied, the representative will be the team that has not participated in the championship
game most recently.
9. If at any point the tie is broken in a multiple team tie, the remaining teams will begin the
process again at #2.
A four team tie at 6-2 in the division results in UTSA winning the division. We go back to #2, and UTSA will have beaten us. So, we lose out on a chance to play for the conference championship due to losing a game we only gave up 10 points in. Tulane luck continues to shine through.

That was a lot of fun. We won big like we needed to. Now we have to get that win at Rice start getting some attention again. Very happy for the seniors.

It seems UTSA is eligible to win the CUSA title, so I guess that means they can win the division. They are eligible to play in a bowl under certain criteria, such as if there's not enough bowl eligible teams. But I'd bet they're also eligible to go to the Liberty Bowl if they win the conference.

The TU radio announcers after the game said since UTSA defeated North Texas, Tulane and Rice would play for the CUSA Western Championship. You would think they would with their expertise be in the know on this. UTSA is saying that if they defeat La. Tech and if TU defeats Rice they are Western champ? Which is correct? Can UTSA be bowl eligible to go to Liberty?

1. UTSA is eligible to win the conference.
2. UTSA is bowl eligible, UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. (lack of enough bowl eligible teams, for one. And being conf champ probably is another.)
3. In a three way tie with Tulane, Rice, and UTSA, UTSA wins. Rice gets eliminated first on tiebreaker #3 above because of their 4-2 record against division opponents. Both TU and UTSA would be 5-1. Then, you go back to #2, and UTSA beat us and wins the conf.
Basically, If Rice wins, they're champs. If Tulane and UTSA win, UTSA is the champ, if Tulane and La Tech win, Tulane is the champ.

Lets just beat Rice and let the chips fall where they may. We have only ourselves to blame for two dreadful performances in Boca Raton and San Antonio!
On October 15, 2011 UTEP, then (3-3, 1-2 C-USA), ended the "Buffet Bob" Toledo Era at Tulane humiliating the Wave 44-7 allegedly before only 972 fans in the Dome. Of course, UTEP unwittingly did us a favor in 2011 for its blow-out win over the Wave or Cow/Dick may have given "Buffet Bob" yet even another "extension," Tricky Dick otherwise "noting improvement" for the 2011 season. Payback is sweet for our 45-3 thrashing, goodbye UTEP, which stays in CUSA, have fun next year with Old Dominion and USM!
Even though it happened against us, I was curious if anyone knew why UTEP was flagged for running into the kicker on the blocked field goal? Since it was blocked at the line maybe the penalty happened first?

I may be wrong, but since the player who ran into the kicker was not the one who blocked the kick the penalty is correct.OGSB wrote:Even though it happened against us, I was curious if anyone knew why UTEP was flagged for running into the kicker on the blocked field goal? Also in the Tulane game a punt returner waved his arms in an " incomplete motion" meaning Punt Safe, get out of the way the kick is short, the kicking teams players backed off, he then proceeded to pick up the bouncing ball and advance it....the same thing happened in the Baylor- OK State game and the official whould not allow the Baylor player to advance the ball, placing the ball where he picked it up and voiding the yards gained..I wonder what the correct call is ?

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

No sense letting a bad basketball night ruin a good football day. Yes UTEP is really bad but we have even lost to teams like that in the past.It was a lot of fun to see us dominate like that. For once we did what we needed to do if we are going to get the buzz going again about this program. Now we need to beat Rice on the road which we will do.
