Can Tulane JUST WIN this last home game and clinch a winning season for the first time in quite a while?
I have just been so PO'd about both of these last two games. There was no reason/excuse to lose BOTH of these games. Why can't the offense pick it up and pull their load?

By Jeff Sagarin's ratings the Wave playing at home will be about a 21 & 1/2 point favorite over UTEP. Also, for Sagarin's formula if we played Rice in Houston tomorrow Rice would be about a 7 & 1/2 to 8 point favorite. We will have no trouble with UTEP, the Rice game will probably go right down to the wire.

What are the odds on Tulane's offense scoring more than one touchdown?
Actually I would think pretty good assuming if we don't do absolutely stupid things like "just drop the ball from our hands" on the one yard line while going in for a score?JerseyWave wrote:What are the odds on Tulane's offense scoring more than one touchdown?

Tulane had two weeks to promote this game. Nothing so far. Real shame. It's senior day and Devon will be a part of that. Get to it Tulane. Don't quit on this team. If you do don't expect fans for that game or the NOLA Bowl.
Tulane didn't have a stadium issue it had a program and facilities issues. To the new President- we want a new AD , a football facility and an IPF. We want top 25 programs in football and basketball the only two sports that count.
I'm looking at the Massey ratings right now. I think we blow out UTEP and Rice.
Look at Rice against some familiar opponents:
- they only beat FAU by 4 points 18-14
- they only beat Tulsa by 3 points 30-27
- they only beat UT San Antonio by 6 points 27-21
- they lost to North Texas 28-16
We have continuously gotten better in our road games, UT San Antonio we should have one, FAU we had a melt down in second half, and Syracuse we had a melt down from the start. We could have one all three of these games if we didn't make stupid penalties, special teams blooper reals, and back to back to back to back interceptions.
We win both games comfortably. North Texas loses to UT San Antonio or Tulsa and we play ECU in championship.

I see the diehards but not much else coming. We are playing head to head with LSU vs Johnny Football. I'll be in the Dome but I wouldn't expect many casual fans to do the same. Losing two straight will lessen the crowd we had for Tulsa. Tulane could promote it being our "last home regular season game ever" in the Dome. But we could be back 12-21-13.wavedat wrote:Tulane had two weeks to promote this game. Nothing so far. Real shame. It's senior day and Devon will be a part of that. Get to it Tulane. Be proactive, being reactive is for losers..
Tulane Class of 1981

Tulane should still make the effort. The team needs to see the school at least trying.tpstulane wrote:I see the diehards but not much else coming. This administration "trying" ? I have faith in the players/coaches. They don't know how to promote, build a program. Blubberhead will be gone soon and I believe the dick will follow. BEAT utep!!!!
I know one thing, I am extremely upset with the production of this offense. Before the start of the season, I really believed the our offense would be the deciding factor of a 9 win season. I liked our new pick ups on defense, but I never would have thought that they would be able to carry the team. We have the WR's to play much better than this. Our offensive line should have been much better as well, but they look 5% better than last season. This offensive coaching staff must improve. I believed that offense would have been the last thing that CJ would be struggling with. UTEP and Rice are two winnable games that we could really handle well if the offense can score at least 3TDs. CJ needs to light some fire in these guys very soon before we end the season 6-6.
Wavefan03... I hope you are correct, but I do not see the Rice game as a comfortable win. Rice has beaten teams that Tulane has lost to...Has played 3 games against BCS teams, won one of those and played pretty damn well in the either two. They beat FAU at home and both Tulsa and UTSA on the road . I am not certain who or what a "Massey" is and I really do not care, I look for results on the field and the three Players that always haunt a Team "coulda" "woulda" & "shoulda". Dismiss those three players from your Team and you can win many games. I do think both games or winnable, UTEP slighly easier than Rice, but I do not see any blowouts in either one....But I hope I am wrongwavefan03 wrote:I'm looking at the Massey ratings right now. Wave opens 17 & 1/2 pts. over UTEP (UTEP/TULANE nos. 175-176 for attached spread sheet).

By Jeff Sagarin's ratings formula we are about a 21 & 1/2 point favorite over UTEP, the Vegas line is only a bit closer than the Sagarin line. We should maul these guys, UTEP is CUSA's Jackson State. I hope to be in Houston for the Rice game whether anyone i know wants to go or not.golfnut69 wrote:Wave755 wrote:Wave opens 17 & 1/2 pts. over UTEP (UTEP/TULANE nos. 175-176 for attached spread sheet).
