for the model. Read it and weep for those that want Tulane to keep their nose in the air.

Besides our losing it is that arrogant yet undeserved attitude by some affiliated w/Tulane that keeps Tulane from being adopted by locals as the home team. All that Harvard of the south talk has always been a bunch of bs. It was a nice saying but never a reality. It's a good school but not a great school. Someone posted in the last year about the earnings of Tulane graduates being well below the schools they claim as their peers. It's time to get over themselves and realize the glory that a top sports program can bring.
So much
I am under the understanding that Tulane was exempt from this particular Grad Cycle because of majors being dropped after Katrina and players transfering either into other majors or to other universities

Yup, I have always laughed whenever I hear that "Harvard of the South" crap. We are so far from it that it is a joke. Rice would be far closer than us even if they are in the Southwest. May be Vandy would be closer. This is no equal in the south actually. Under Cowen we going farther and farther downhill. Rather than build up the athletic and academics, he has moved to make sure he answers to no one and alumni do not seem to have an answer for that.

Tulane's entire athletic program hit 83% and they do not have Sports Management as a degree. Rice does. You want 90 plus then convince the TU administration to add Sports Management.
ROLL WAVE!
the good Docta Coward and the Tulane Board needs to read teh guidelines that John Paul Tulane set forth when endowing Tulane. Prior to Mr Tulanes involvement Tulane was a public institutiion, which if memory serves, was named the University of Louisiana, which was to be closed. Mr Tulane realizing the research done by the medical staff on Tropical disease saw the importance of keeping the school open, he approached the state with an endowment, the state allowed the school to remain open as a "private" school and to be renamed the Tulane University of Louisiana and with the same tax breaks and incentivies as a public school ...Mr Tulane set forth guidliens regarding the education of the students of louisiana and the surronding region...the good Docta Coward needs to re read those guidelines

I think Rice also has a degree program in Kinesiology, which give their athletes another sound degree option. The above article is just further evidence that under Cowen, our athletic and academic standing will only continue to fall. Now Cowen is going to unleash Tulane Empower on us. His $100MM mind fart to turn Tulane students into urban rehabilitation specialists. If you are the parent of a college age student, are you going to want to pay $50,000 per year to have Tulane teach your son/daughter to swing a hammer, apply paint, or read to uneducated children. I think most parents will opt out of that, and the academic slide will just continue. And forget their bogus stat about 40,000 applications--a meaningless stat in the age of free internet applications. Instead of applications, look at the yield, it's a disaster. Cowen is a loser from start to finish--he couldn't manage or lead a 2 car parade.Green Wave wrote:Tulane's entire athletic program hit 83% and they do not have Sports Management as a degree. Tulane is the University of Louisiana
