Observer on YOGWF: "Has any of the opt out crowd ever considered that the message SC might get from reduced support is that football does not have enough support to continue on as a division I program?"

Hey Observer, ever consider Cowen is giving no support himself to drive program to Div III? The evidence is overwhelmingly that your beloved SC is anti Div I athletics and has already come to the conclusion that Tulane does not belong in Div I, after all we're an elite academic university not like those bums, Stanford, Duke, Wake, Vandy, TCU etc., etc., etc. who have compromised their integrity in Div I athletics.

So we must sell our children in order to up our TAF donations in order that Cowen, in his charity, might see fit to allow the football program to continue. Please Dr. Cowen, sir, don't end football. We'll do anything you want.

The dome is already empty. The city/student body/alumni have already "opted out." We draw worse than most local high schools.

But we need to stay the course. Cowen and Dickson know what they're doing. We're building it the right way. Send more money. Because, if you don't, you're not a "real fan," and Cowen will think we don't care!

It's like managing a bunch of four year olds. The worst fans in college football, bar none. But when you spend all your time in an echo chamber, it's only a matter of time before you go a little bats.

The fact that we draw less attendance than some high schools was very evident this weekend when two Houston suburban high schools (Katy and Pearland) drew over 41,000 at Rice Stadium for a playoff game. Both schools have enrollments between 2,000 and 3,000. This illustrates that (1) you don't have to be a massive institution to draw fans, and (2) football is king in the South. The reason Tulane football is on the brink is because of Cowen. When he arrived we were rated #7 in football and #35 academically. Since Cowen's version of the Tulane Model has been installed, we have collapsed both in football and academically. Now, he says he's going to raise $100 million to rehabilitate blighted neighborhoods. Hey Scott, how about teaching the students, who are paying $50,000 per year, something other than how to swing a hammer-- and how about putting a viable football product on the field, so the fans and alums won't have to wear paper sacks on their heads. Use the $100 million you raise, to save Tulane instead of pursuing some idealistic windmill.

It really ought to be clear to everyone other than a few on Yoggie that Cowen's plan is to end Division football at Tulane. And on the academic side, he is simply too busy running around as the savior of N.O. and Tulane, ask him!
