Well, at least we get to start out ranked and it is up to us to win early and move up!

I hope this team learn's how to play "small ball".....but i think this is a "regional" team...super regional may be too much to ask for

That's a step back in the right direction. As a long time baseball fan, last season was tough to take. I never thought I'd see us finish in the basement of the conference. Good luck to Coach Jones and the team.

Of course, it means nothing if you do not win consistently.

We all hope that this will be the start of going back to postseason again.

But, again, it is only a start. Winning will get the program back on track toward the league tournament and then to a regional.

Projections are again that C*USA will be at least a four bid league into the NCAA tourney. We will see how that plays out, but if that is true, finishing near the top of the league is important. This missing the league tournament stuff has got to stop.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. BA has always been kind to us and picks us 25th. The coach's who play us every year pick us 5th in the conference. As Jones said on Tulane's site it's up to the coach's to see that the team lives up to the ranking by BA.

I hope Baseball America is correct but Baseball America has been a major supporter of TU With the same pitching staff returning with an approx 8.5 rating with only one top pitcher freshman from Northshore coming in and ranked by CUSA peers number 4 after Rice Southern Miss and East Carolina I feel we will not make regionals again this year This team is slightly better than last years disaster and embarassment to program I am sick and tired of Rick's excuses I cannot recruit as a private school. Why can Coach Sloss at TCU Rice Vanderbilt Miami and Stanford win big every year?

"why can coach schloss at TCU, Vandebilt etc. win every year"? The answer my friend is m-o-n-e-y! They have the rescources we don't have. If Dickson and Cowen dosen't want to make a commitment in football, what the hell do you think they do to baseball? I trust Rick Jones. He will get us back to where we were in '01 and'05. According to Rick in my conversation with him, next year will be our year. Trust Rick fellas, please. :D

St. Amant- Tulane has long put money into baseball. There is NO EXCUSE for us not to be in the running every year. However, Jones is getting like Toledo and doesn't see an excuse he doesn't like. Remember the letter filled w/excuses last year that he concluded by saying it wasn't excuses.

Yes, they put money into baseball, but not as much as those other private universities. In that letter last year, Coach Jones did not make any excuses, he stated facts that has hurt our program through no fault of his own. A LOT of the problems were mandated by the NCAA that affected private schools like Tulane. My main point is to trust in Rick Jones and his staff to get us back where we belong, fighting for CUSA championships, hosting regionals and going on to the college world series.

The Talk Tulane Baseball last night at Boomtown Casino was very well attended and Rick gave all there on the goings on with the restrictions put forth by the NCAA and how teams like Rice have certain advantages to getting players in school that we currently do not have. Kudos to the Ray Hester Club for hosting this event.

Trust in Rick people. We will return to prominence again! ROLL WAVE!!

Sorry St. Amant but our best baseball days under Jones are way behind us. Just like the Tulane Model his all Tulane staff has been a huge failure. Teams that win NC's don't even do that. You need veteran assistants that have different connections across the country. At one point he and his staff were great recruiters which overcame his coaching. With that no longer being the case he just offers up excuses. We are still putting up top dollar for the baseball program. The things he espouses are nothing but excuses. He should be on the hot seat big time. Brockhoff had one losing season and got canned. Not making regionals when 64 teams now get in is not acceptable. It's time for him to put up or shut up.

I agree with RWR's last post one hundred percent Show me where Vandy,Miami, Southern Cal, Rice and tcu with facts that these schools spend
more on baseball than Tulane? Vandy, rice and southern cal are top. Twenty five academic schools with higher academic requirements. TU. Is second tier at number fifty. Jones at a half million dollars salary a year is one of the highest paid coaches in college baseball. We just gave him a multi million dollar new stadium. No more excuses He and staff cannot recruit top players or coach. as tcu coach does Jones has lost it
