Well, let's see how this works out.

It's not optimistic to just hope something happens when all signs point in a different direction and nothing is being done to obtain these optimistic goals. I find this board more optimistic because there are people here who actually believe Tulane can and should have a top 20 football program year in year out. If the majority of those on YOGWF actually were "Optimistic" about Tulane football's ceiling as many of us over here are they wouldn't stand for a coach getting an extension for 3 Div 1 wins in his 4th season and getting blown out in his last 2 games of the season. One of the biggest mistakes people make is labeling people negative or pessimistic when they are simply pointing out the exact reasons we fail year in and year out. YOGWF has done a major disservice to Tulane athletics by silencing critics with valid points about the lack of commitment this university shows to it's athletic department and allowed those that wish to destroy athletics at Tulane to operate with virtual impunity. The only true optimists left on YOGWF can't reveal their true feelings because they'll be banned like several dozen of us have been over the last 5 years. Now that there is another board to talk about Tulane athletics maybe they won't be as afraid to get banned.

Spot on and well stated.

+1. James Jones, aka, jts, has been exposed as a tool of the AD. There was no gauntlet thrown down by RD and no real commitment made to athletics. People are starting to call him on it and he hasn't responded. Last summer someone posted about having dinner w/a bd. member and being told that there was no financial commitment made. He was also told the stadium talk was strictly 25,000 seats and was contingent on a huge donor coming forward w/a $30 miilion dollar pledge that wasn't expected to happen. He was also told that the talk of Tulane's role in conf. re-alignment was all pie in the sky talk full of if this, that, and the other thing happens we might get in. Some expressed outrage at the post as Jim had them all built up.They called the poster names and said they couldn't wait to tell him how wrong he was. The thread was of course locked and the poster banned. Looks like he's owed an apology.

It's not just that he's a tool of the AD, it's that he's severely lacking in class and integrity in my experience. By insisting that there is a "commitment" an then banning anyone who suggests otherwise he is without question doing serious damage to Tulane athletics and he should be called out for it.

There are enough people who believe him because he's banned everyone who disagrees. The dude is very much a part of the problem.
