CFN impressed with our talent , with QB being our weak link , but thinks we will be overwhelmed by stronger opponents than last year . In conclusion CFN thinks it will be a greater struggle to become bowl eligible than last season , but doable .

This year's schedule is a tougher one. Hopefully Will Hall's offense will be the difference in getting us to the six win mark.. Defense should be better than last year.

They just dont understand or take into accounf how bad our OC has been for two years. Hall (even if we’re being conservative) leads our offense & team to 7-9 wins, book it. We cut down on the games we blow to bad teams (smu) and pull off a couple more upsets.

I agree. At the same time, you have to figure there's some growing pains early in the year with a brand new style of offense. Otherwise I'd say 8 or 9 wins is a floor, but I think that's the ceiling this year.

Agree. With all the playmakers this offense has and now an OC that knows how to utilize them we should not be once again struggling to get to 6 wins. As D touched on there will still be a learning process early on but other than Auburn early we should be able to handle those other D's even while we are in that period. The other question mark is of course again the O-Line. The advantage we have with both of those question marks is our two new coaches. Hall should be able to scheme around our line deficiencies and Kennedy has coached with him before and knows the system so that should help speed up the learning process. The last thing that helps speed up the process is that the coaches can now do some work with players in the summer.

I do no think CFN took into consideration the grad transfers on the O line, ...Tx Tech scores points, and their O line is nothing to brag on...they are only asked to block for the time it takes to exhale

If someone see’s an over/under Tulane futures bet from a casino let me know. Haven't been able to find one yet. I assume vegas will come in at 5.5 or 6 wins, ill take the over.

Wonder if he knows something we don't when he said we had good kickers. Our punter should turn out to be good once he becomes consistent but PK is still a big problem.

It is NOT an under/over betting line, but CFN has us in the 6.5 win group:

I think that's about right, given the schedule. I certainly hope and expect 7 or more regular season wins. If all falls into place, we could win the division, but that will require a couple of tough road wins. And let's not fool ourselves: We may be underdogs against FIU, and will be underdogs at Army. If all games needed to be handicapped today, we might only be favorites against Tulsa, UConn and Missouri State. I think we'll beat Navy and hopefully FIU, but we'll need to come up with some upsets and play well on the road.

I think this team should be pretty good. But it's Tulane, and they have to "Show Me" that Lucy isn't going to pull the ball away from Charlie Brown yet again. Remember, we got to the crap bowl last year on a 2 point conversion (that could have easily gone the other way) against a bad Navy squad.

I've heard that a few times this offseason and wondered the same thing! Didn't our new OC come in saying what great S/T's we have? Our placekicking game has been an adventure since we left the Dome (and Cairo graduated!)

Our OC did say that and I'm still wondering where he got that from. I do think our return teams could be good with some of the players we now have especially Jones and McCleskey. Our coverage units could be too based on added athleticism. But our PK is still below average and I was being sarcastic about that writer knowing something we don't. There has been nothing to indicate we are bringing someone else in. I hope we do but there's nothing out there to indicate that will happen.

Speaking of preview, I sure hope its wrong, but the countdown clock now has the FIU game starting at noon. Can you imagine Yulman at noon in late August?

Cfn is truly an AWFUL site. The writing stinks and the pop up & embedded ads are super invasive. Excited for phil steele and more athlon.

I know we are penciling navy in as a W, but its rather strange how after one down year every “expert” is so low on them. I think that will likely be another battle. I do hope we just blow smu out, which is what we need to start doing to the lower end and middle of the pack teams to make a statement we have arrived. Also as said above, if we can make 40 yard field goals consistently, i think we can say our kicking game has arrived.

We’ll win atleast one of the army/fiu games.
