Haskin for Freshman of the Year:

I'll give myself some credit here. I brought this up on this site this week. Guerry saw it and has now put it out there. I hope Tulane is doing their part to promote him and Hoese.
It will be unreal to have a legit Player of the Year candidate and a legit Freshman of the Year candidate on the team and not make a Regional. Come on pitching staff.

It would be hard to fire TJ if the team finishes above .500 in conference, has a player of the year AND a Freshman of the year candidate.

I don’t think he’s going to be fired, but that’s not good reasoning.
He’s got the AAC player of the year and possibly the National player of the year and he misses a regional? To me that makes you more likely to get fired. Having a great talent like that and still not being able to win makes a coach look worse.
If above .500 is a selling point, you’re not doing a good job. Not in college baseball. Not at Tulane.
The Saturday game has been moved to 6:30.

Except for the fact that he 22-25 in conference in his first two seasons. 23-29 if you count the conference tournament. And I agree, over .500 in conference is NOT where this program should be given the commitment Tulane has made to baseball. We should be competing for AAC championships and hosting regionals more often than not.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 8:57 amI don’t think he’s going to be fired, but that’s not good reasoning.

With phenomenally talented hitters, pitching ERA is 2nd worst in history (behind 1990). What if in your business, you had a new product release that was one of the best in the market and yet you were struggling to achieve LY figures? If winning is really, truly of paramount importance to Troy Dannen, TJ should be feeling the heat.

Who saw that coming? Roper gives up a home run on the first pitch, then proceeds to go 8 innings while giving up only 3 more hits and striking out 11. Cellucci gives up a HR to open the 9th then retires the side. Wave wins game 1 vs UCF, 6-2.

The pitching recap was way more important than how we scored our 6 runs. I don't care. I just want to see the pitching staff turn it around, and hope we'll point to tonight as the night the change started.

Cincinnati lost 2 to ECU and are now at 11-9. We are 10-5 and have to take care of business tomorrow and Sunday.
Cincinnati’s RPI is terrible they are no threat. UConn and UH are who we need to lose.Houma de Wave wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2019 11:12 pm Cincinnati lost 2 to ECU and are now at 11-9. We are 10-5 and have to take care of business tomorrow and Sunday.
UConn is #26 RPI and UH is #42 RPI. We’re at currently at #79. The encouraging part is we still control our own destiny since we play those two in coming weeks.

Actually we need them to keep winning and then for us to take them out when we play them. That's the best case scenario to improve our RPI.

Well Roper called the pitchers only meeting on the field after the UNO debacle. He talked the talk and now he walked the walk. May the others follow suit.

Good point. I think if we win at least 4 of 6 vs those two we’ll have a shot possibly. Need to win each series though.

No posts about tonight’s game. Epic.
One post on the other site. Our fanbase stinks. Not sure who is at fault.

There’s a better replay available that appears to show the ball hitting about 20 feet up into the AB sign on the scoreboard. We watched it in the suite at Turchin and they kept showing it.
A ball hit that hard off the wall would have careened off the wall not die like it did.
The UCF outfielder told a few of us it was an Hr.

Hate that we lost and lost it the way we did. We didn't use up much pitching. Price really took care of business to keep us in striking distance. Have to win tomorrow.
As to our fan base it doesn't stink and certainly isn't at fault. Seven decades of losing takes its toll That is all on Tulane. I'd point out too that the game had ended about just a half hour earlier than that post. There are now 18 post on the other site.

It was. HR. It for sure hit the wall but that was after scraping the mesh. No way the ball just trickles off the wall like that if it was a direct hit. Horrible break.
Initially I thought it was a double but freeze frame it and think about how a hard hit ball off the top of the wall could act like it did, impossible. The fans and the OF all knew it.
