SLU is 16-16, 8-4 in Southland, 1-7 against top 50 teams, rpi 102. We can’t blame scheduling, the Lions are just having an off year.

Matt Riser has done a heck of a job there. Haven't they won a bunch in a row against us? Time for some payback tonight.

He did a terrible job tonight.
Let Kody Hoese, arguably the best hitter in the country beat him. With 2 outs there, you walk him. Make someone else beat you. Then right after that he brings in his closer down 3. Why not bring him in 1 out earlier? It was not very smart.

Way to rip one of our Alumni that has a MUCH MUCH MUCH better record than our current coach working with less. Yeah, you might have made me wrong, bfd..

I’m not ripping him. Just making an observation. He made some poor decisions tonight, they probably cost his team the game.

Final: Tulane 15, SLU 14

Whew, no lead is a safe lead with this team!

Thank God this game is over, we give up 5 in the bottom of the 9th with Cellucci on the mount but hang on to win.

And by the way, another final, Southern 7, LSWho 2. :D

Sorry, being the optimist, I cursed at Graf all the way home in the ninth. Kept bringing up the last game they lost in the ninth. That game is history focus on this game Graf. As if he was jinxing the team in the end. I am pulling for the team and he is saying how miserable the Tulane fans looked next to him. Really!!! Hope the lord forgives me, Matthews should have gotten a better jump on the ball, Calucci you have to win this game by yourself, really!!! If Shemp comes to bat we are in deep trouble, 5 home runs you would think he was Hoese coming to bat. So depressing listening to him that last inning. Good night folks

Gotta like the extra credit a road win gets you in the RPI.

For those of you who are in-the-know, here's a riddle: Our pitchers have trouble throwing strikes, especially when the pressure is on. Is our pitching staff lacking? Has Coach Latham not panned out the way we hoped? Does he simply need more time? All of these?

The pitching numbers across the board say we are better this year but that might be more of an indication of how bad we were last year. I think we have better talent and better coaching but we were not going to be shutting people down.

As dreadful as our pitching has been lately, you have to know it happens at all levels of baseball. Tonight the Twins had a 1-0 lead in NY going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Their starter had yet to give up a hit. 11 batters later, and three pitching changes later, the Mets had a 6-1 lead with two hits. One of the Mets three outs was made by a baserunning blunder! 3 Twins relief pitchers combined to walk 6, hit 1 and throw 12 strikes and 29 balls. The announcers were talking about this being one of the worst single inning pitching performances they've seen or even heard about! Mets fans stopped clapping for the walked in runs, it was surreal.

Edit: with a 9-1 lead in the top of the 8th, the first 6 batters have reached base and it's now 9-4 with the bases loaded for the Twins and nobody out! The tying run is in the on-deck circle!!

D the problem is we did it twice in less than a week. Another huge difference is that the wildness issues have gone on for three seasons. It cost one guy his job and it's still happening. The walks, hit batters and wild pitches just keep happening and that's what is disturbing.

No argument that it's disturbing and consistently happening. Our pen is like the firefighters that throw gas on the flames. I just pointed out that it happens at levels much higher than D1 NCAA baseball.

Again, don't pick an argument when there's none there. I'm not disagreeing with your point.

I wasn't arguing at all. I was just pointing out that the frustration level for our fans is so high because it's something we have been dealing with for a three year stretch not just an isolated incident.
