That is sad.

At the same time, with schedules set a year in advance, it's hard to tell what teams are going to help our RPI and what ones will hurt. All we can do is win games.

No guessing when we played LSU twice a year for the last 50 years or so. Dannen hurt our baseball RPI and pocketbook on that one.

Losing 2 of 3 to Ole Miss & getting swept by Long Beach State has us in this RPI hole.

It was UCSB and they are 9th. It was too many 200 plus opponents. The schedule is more to blame than the losses. We really need to go on the road for multiple series against the SEC.

Playing UNO 3 times is not helping us. Once or twice is enough. I don’t know who else around here for midweek to replace them with to help our RPI since we don’t play LSU anymore.

USM maybe. They are at 44.

Yes we should be playing USM twice every year.

We have tried this dumbed down scheduling before and it never works. It doesn't fool fans, media or the committee. Our inconsistency to this point is maddening. We'll have several good pitching outings and you think they've finally overcome it and then it comes right back. Our outfield defense is lacking. We are terrible on the base paths. Our hitting has been there but some are slumping lately. We have played half the season. There's a lot of time left to consistently play good ball and get some quality series wins. No more excuses. Just get it done.

Coach TJ talks like a high school coach.

“It’s moments like Sunday where I almost think to myself, 'So close but so far,”

I almost....then the cliche.

“He needs to eliminate interference and crowds and umpires and the other team’s jerseys and all that. If he does, then he can give us a big lift.”

And all that, give me a break. Ya know.

Did Dannen cancel the series, or did Joe Alleva do so? Yes, TD may have given him impetus by trying to charge more than average for the LSU baseball game on PPV, but I believe Joey A cancelled the series, treating Tulane like they treat every other D1 baseball program in the state.

I know you don't like TD, you've been very outspoken about that. But at some point you need to move on.

No baseball, no Fball and no Bball with LSU, WBball is next. Yet we do these Fball camps with them. It is not right.

And, what other Louisiana baseball program has beaten LSWho 5 of the last 6 times they had played them? Name one?

Your post can only mean one of two things:

1. That Joe Alleva cancelled the series because we beat them too often or
2. Troy Dannen had nothing to do with Alleva's decision, it was done because he didn't like losing to an in-state rival.

Am I missing something?

Alleva got even with Dannen for not televising it. Of course LSU losing 5 of 6 just made it easier. They will play us in BR but not at Tulane since they can control the TV. So if we want a game with them it’s going to be at the Shrine for the Wally Pontiff Classic or at the Box they not ever coming back to Turchin. We no longer have a big RPI boost with playing LSU twice.

Yep, from Alleva's perspective LSU had "nothing to win and everything to lose" playing Tulane and then LSU kept losing. :)

So, Alleva was looking for any excuse to end the rivalry and then Dannen gave him one.

I hope someone who has Dannen’s ear told him to tell LSU no to us playing them in the Wally Pontiff Classic at Zephyr Field where all the money goes to the LSU charity. It’s either home and away with LSU each season or nothing. If nothing, we have to find a way to work around this in scheduling to boost our strength of schedule. We should be playing Rice every year along with Southern Miss. Perhaps when Alleva is gone and LSU gets a new AD we can resume the baseball series and start playing each other in men’s basketball.

I had that conversation with him right after he fucked it up. I told him he hadn't shown LSU anything by accepting to be their bitch in the WP game at The Shrine. He said that the people he was talking to told him that was the thing to do . I told him that was the same people that have been driving Tulane athletics into the ground for decades. As for scheduling Rice's program is no longer a help to RPI. USM seems to be ok for RPI purposes and I have no idea why we aren't playing them this year.
