Regional yes. Host no. We’d have to absolutely tear through the conference to reach hosting status with our low RPI. This baseball program hasn’t tore through anything in many many years. . Although making a regional does show significant progress.
Need to win the ECU and UCONN series’ we currently don’t have the RPI or any quality series wins to get an at large bid. Winning those two would help both causes and give us a legitimate at large shot. Of course we could always win the tournament and get the automatic bid.

Our Warren Nolan RPI is now 97, nine places down from last week. Sweeping teams like Cincy tomorrow is not going to change our RPI much, if at all, but sweeping ECU and UCONN will.tpstulane wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 11:08 am Need to win the ECU and UCONN series’ we currently don’t have the RPI or any quality series wins to get an at large bid. I do think there's a point where RPI becomes irrelevant. We're currently 19-8. If we win tomorrow we're 20-8 at the halfway point of the season. Finish 40-16, and go 1-2 in the conf tournament, and we'd be at 41-18. No way a 41-18 team from one of the top 5-6 conferences in RPI doesn't get to a regional, regardless of the RPI.

Just checked our future schedule. 16 of our last 28 games are in the top100 RPI Nine games against Tier 1 (1-50), seven against Tier 2 (51-100). the remaining twelve are all between 101-150, except the 3 games vs UNO (152) and the one vs Nicholls St (158). Tommorrow's game is the last game against a 200+ RPI team this year.

LSU is bad this year yet they will have a good RPI playing the SEC schedule. Dannen really screwed that series up. We’d beat them twice this year again and get an RPI boost. What happens after next year and Baby Cakes move and the stadium is converted to a soccer field? We’ll never play that series again.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 3:21 pm Just checked our future schedule. 16 of our last 28 games are in the top100 RPI Nine games against Tier 1 (1-50), seven against Tier 2 (51-100). the remaining twelve are all between 101-150, except the 3 games vs UNO (152) and the one vs Nicholls St (158). There’s never been an at large team get a bid with an RPI of 55 or higher.

Bad as compared to LSU typical standards. Miss St overrated at #3 they are 5-4 in conference play. LSU got swept by Texas and shutout by McNeese. That’s bad. Either way my point is LSU has a 13 RPI and that would help us if we played them twice but Dannen screwed that up.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 6:23 pmLSU is bad?Show Me wrote: ↑Sat Mar 30, 2019 5:51 pmLSU is bad this year yet they will have a good RPI playing the SEC schedule. I agree if we win at least 40 games this year we will get in the NCAA tournament even with a bad RPI. Would love to see us get a shot at Lswho in postseason play since Joe Alleva threw his notorious temper tantrum and cancelled the series over the cox cable broadcast issue. Seems like the Lsuwho fans will be running Alleva out of Baton Rouge soon so hopefully we can start over with them after he’s gone. We should be playing Lswho home and away for both men’s basketball and baseball. Our home game against them in men’s basketball would be in the SKC as happened when Dave Dickerson’s Tulane team beat John Brady’s Lswho team. Shortly after Lswho acted like cry babies and cancelled the series just like they recently did in baseball.

No way we host.
Won the conference in 2016 and played a much better OOC schedule and didn’t even have any chance to host.
FYI Tulane went 38-20 in 2012 and got left out.
Campbell Camels went 49-10 in 2013 and got left out with an RPI of 37.

The year we were surprisingly left out was because that idiot Ron Maestri was a member of the selection committee and screwed us over. Otherwise we would have made it in. I will never forgive that POS for the crappy way he treated Tulane after Katrina when we were using Zephyr Field.

We're going nowhere. The pitching isn't anywhere close to being ready to take us deep in the conference tournament, and we don't deserve an at-large bid.

We barely remain in the conversation now. He has a list of teams in the discussion but we’re 2nd to last in that. And our RPI was 74 at that point.
