WE lost, 7-4. Their starter was extremely effective and I also posted this so that the Will Wade debacle would no longer be the top post on a Tulane board.
That was our worst performance of the season. We really need Gillies step up tomorrow and have his first good start of the season. Starting to get concerned about our starting pitching. Roper has never been a dominant Friday night guy. He usually has a lot of situations where runners are on but usually manages to end up getting out of it. Not tonight. Then Gillies has been bad so far. Bates bombed Tuesday. Hopefully it s all just a blip and we turn the corner starting tomorrow.

UCSB is strong in baseball. I used to go to some of their games since I lived close by. They took three from us last year. I hope it does not happen this year!

Disappointing weekend so far. The starting pitching hasn't been good. Relievers still having issues. Whelan has been a bright spot. The defense is lacking in both the infield and outfield. Baseball is a long season so we have time to improve but this was a series we needed to win.

Travis Jewett's record vs California schools:
2 wins
13 losses
2 wins
13 losses
Yep, it took Rick Jones years to finally get a handle on the Cali-teams. But, we are playing these guys close, like against Ole Miss we are just coming up a little short.

Duly noted! My thoughts exactly. Still not convinced we have our coach!

My worst feers are coming to fruition.
No solid program losses like this at home. There is too much invested, money and space, to accept this. I question this head coach.

When your tuition is $60,000 per year and you can only give partial schollies, you’re never going to have depth in pitching. You might not be able to sign really good ones to begin with and you’re certainly not going to keep those who aren’t very good long enough to develop them. Their parents won’t spend that kind of money if their kid isn’t playing much. Probably applies to hitters also although to a lesser extent.

Explain how we won the AAC in 2016 thenJaxwave wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 2:12 pm When your tuition is $60,000 per year and you can only give partial schollies, you’re never going to have depth in pitching. Certainly, there will be years where there will be exceptions. But generally the high tuition will work against us.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 2:27 pmExplain how we won the AAC in 2016 thenJaxwave wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 2:12 pm When your tuition is $60,000 per year and you can only give partial schollies, you’re never going to have depth in pitching. If we had a good coach we could be in a Regional almost every year. David Pierce proved it.Jaxwave wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2019 3:59 pmCertainly, there will be years where there will be exceptions. Same old crap. pitchers can't throw strikes. i wonder if they are trying to hit the corners or just throw strikes. If they are just trying to throw the ball over the plate we are in a lot of trouble. hope latham can get them straight.
Her name was Sandy Barbour.

Not Sandy Barbour. Who was the lady from Eastern Illinois brought in near the end of the Dickson era. She helped hire David Pierce, Willie Fritz and the volleyball coach. Dannen beat her out for the AD job. I think she left for Iowa?
