He actually made a “joking “ comment at the GB Christmas party that he would retire 1-0!

A loss for sure, but good for him on the promotion. Down the line a well connected coaching tree from fritz could pay its own dividends.

Now Hall & Fritz can make a hire . . . Maybe a killer recruiter with deep Louisiana and Mississippi connections ?

It's Shaun and he seems to want to stay in Tampa. If he is one of the four let go that could change so we should know soon.

Bigger loss than Ruse , obviously. Most likely felt taken for granted and slighted by Fritz not choosing him as OC . Next season will see three new coaches in the coaches room .

Coach Hall , unable to tap assisistants for Mississippi , now being tasked with getting one for us . Appears the third new coach will be selected by Coach Fritz .
President Fitts , B of A , it's put up or forever hold your peace time . Make Tulane ATHLETICS relevant and top 30 again .

Glass half-full? Come on man, Hall was a great hire and as others have said, coaches move on and that can be a good thing. A little new blood in any operation can pay big dividends.

Maybe we bring Atkins back in a year or two—when Hall moves on.

People forget quickly that many were calling for him to be fired as this season went on. We were extremely run dominant in his one game as OC which we can get away with when playing patsy of a defense. Hopefully he'll show at Charlotte that he can run a balanced offense . Then if we have an opening some time soon he could be considered to come back. Clearly Willie didn't think he was ready at this point and I agree. He's getting his chance and hopefully he grows into the role.

This is the correct answer. There is absolutely no reason for a program in Tulane's position to take a chance on an unproven OC. Pretty risky to do so and especially considering the down-side of having to change horses in mid-season. Taking a coaching job at Charlotte might seem like a step down for Atkins, but obviously getting experience as an OC is a step up for the man. Fritz gets to call the shots which is why he's being paid the big bucks.

Hall moving on is not a pressing issue.
