Tawson too much for us. But now we've got Cincinnati exactly where we want them for our season opener.
Need to bury all the basketball threads into one season thread. Not worthy of anything more.
That seat license next year needs to be revoked.

Sadly hilarious. Empty arena for sure this year and a strong possibility of a winless conference season. Dunleavy needs to go now.
This is beyond the pale. TD better have his list ready.

Scary to think that the men’s basketball program has turned into a huge dumpster fire before the start of conference play. At this point Dunleavy is just cashing his big fat paycheck and nothing else.

The Dunleavy/Tulane experiment is a failure. I think Dannen got a little star struck when he hired him. Time to hire a qualified college basketball coach who will bring the energy to recruiting and coaching.

And call that single thread “The Dunleavy Graveyard”. Our basketball program is in total meltdown. Hardly a surprise when our head coach seems to have never seen a zone defense before.

Mike is DONE and should LEAVE- E
Very nice Dave B.
If memory serves MD married a NOLA girl who would only live in metro NOLA, he was local and available, an easy TD job search...no relo cost, no house to buy and he was a "name"...
Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

I don’t want to defend Dunleavy because, obviously we should be making a change at the end of the year but the team in year 1 had no talent and that was Conroy’s fault, not Dunleavy’s.

I feel like this program is doing nothing except proving Marquette's former AD right.
If I'm the AAC, I start issuing formal warnings to Tulane right about now. We're an abomination.

It wasn't just the talent (which by the way Conroy won more games with that talent) but it was his lack of coaching in general. Tried to implement an NBA offensive scheme which seemed too complicated. and had no clue how to penetrate a zone. Implemented no defense. Didn't clean up turnovers and out of control basketball. Didn't take timeouts (not even the use it or lose it at end of first half). Couldn't manage the game. He was a dumpster fire from the very beginning. There is no defense of MD at all.Profoundwizard wrote: ↑Sat Dec 22, 2018 9:20 amI don’t want to defend Dunleavy because, obviously we should be making a change at the end of the year but the team in year 1 had no talent and that was Conroy’s fault, not Dunleavy’s.
Hard to believe we lost to these guys.

Scelfo was hired against the advice of his brother, Frank, whom told Cowen that Rich Rod deserved the job. The rest is (Greek tragedy like) history!
This basketball experience has turned out even worse. There's no way our AD keeps any credibility at all if he doesn't have a new coach in place by March Madness time. It's not getting better, it's getting worse, and the new hire will probably have to deal with a slew of players transferring out since they signed on to play for Dunleavy. It's not going to be an overnight transition but it better be a much better hire. Find someone that's won at a lower level and moved to D1 and won at D1 level and is ready for the AAC.

Quite true. It was clear from day one that MD was not a college coach. I hoped that he might be able to recruit enough athletic talent to overcome his coaching deficiencies—hasn’t happened. He should have found some good assistants, strong in college basketball fundamentals—apparently that didn’t happen either. All of his Tulane teams have played as though they have never received any college coaching.

Yep. Too bad Sam Scelfo as President of the Green Wave Club had more influence with Cowen than Frank did.DfromCT wrote: ↑Sun Dec 23, 2018 4:24 amScelfo was hired against the advice of his brother, Frank, whom told Cowen that Rich Rod deserved the job. The rest is (Greek tragedy like) history!
