Glory days by Springsteen.
We r forever coming back to 1998. It was twenty years ago, since then the entire NCAA Fball landscape has been turned upside down.
Well, if he goes, he goes. That is life. At the very least he didn't have a hand in any recruitment of anyone Tulane signed yesterday, so no hard feelings there either.
If anything, this might make Tulane realize how tough the competition is for good assistants. Maybe they sweeten the offer for the next guy who may be better qualified, and/or have a real innovative mind, and/or is a top shelf recruiter.
Maybe as a "buyout" of sorts (even though Hall may not have signed a formal Tulane contract), Dannen might be arranging a future home and home series with Ole Miss's AD (although, in reality, Ole Miss owes Tulane nothing for Hall).
Or neither of the above. Whatever.
Moving on...

He interviewed with Ole Miss this past Monday. And he's upstairs yesterday in our facility yesterday? Strange. My issue is if this guy was already ready to jump ship, what's the next few years going to be like? I say cut bait and find an OC that wants to be here and is loyal and appreciative to his boss. His track record speaks for itself, he's a 1 and doner everywhere he has been.
Buster Faulkner at Ark St is an emerging OC at the next level. His offenses wherever he has been have been dynamic. Go get him and we won't miss a beat.

We can only hope that as a program Tulane continues to get their coaching staff poached.Pepper wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:17 am He interviewed with Ole Miss this past Monday. Being poached is Tulane Past . Retaining is Tulane Present and Future .wave97 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:44 amWe can only hope that as a program Tulane continues to get their coaching staff poached.Pepper wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:17 am He interviewed with Ole Miss this past Monday. TOTAL LOSER .nawlinspete wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 7:47 am Looking at his past performance Mr Hall is not the type that Coach Fritz covets . Mr Hall is the epitome of a ONE AND DONE with no loyalty .

It has absolutely nothing to do with Tulane's past or present, it's just the way it is. Even if Coach Fritz chooses to stay his OC's & DC's will be poached, as they should be.
BTW- do we know that Hall is packing his bags for Oxford?

Escort him out? Obviously Willie Fritz does not want him out. I don't know Will Hall but I'm sure he would leave if asked to. I guess the kind of people you hang around with need to be escorted out of buildings, so it's all you understand.nawlinspete wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 9:13 amSays it all . You guys should be aware this is how the college football world works. If any member of the football staff is offered a P5 job they are gone. Even Fritz.
The money is to big and the it’s a chance of a lifetime. Almost Every coach will jump. Day 1 on the job or 3 years in.
His first loyalty is to his family. Not Tulane. He could make 2-5 times more $. Hopefully he stays I hear good things. But take it easy on Hall. Almost every person here would do the same thing.

Oh really, everybody here would commit to a program and let it be announced and talk about how great a relationship they have with Fritz then stick a knife in Coaches back by jumping at a chance to coach at Ole Miss under a coach there who may be on his way out? Peleeeeezzz.. And nobody here but you, "knows how the college football game works"? Fughgetabouit!

You would walk away from a job offer that would triple or quadruple your salary? You'd really leave as much as $750k/year, or triple your salary ABOVE what Tulane is paying to be loyal to Tulane?Bigschtick wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 4:49 pmalumniwave wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 4:36 pm You guys should be aware this is how the college football world works. Put it another way: If you hit the lottery would you quit your job if you could only collect by doing so? Maybe you love your employer so much you'd walk away from that kind of payoff. For an up and coming coach, who has never earned more than the $250K Tulane might be paying him (or whatever that number is) it's hard to say no. THIS IS BUSINESS, A BUSINESS DECISION MAY BE MADE. And for the jerks saying he's one and done everywhere, consider he was FIRED after one year at UL-L since the whole coaching staff was let go. He took a better job (OC which he wasn't at Memphis) and jumped off board of a ship others were fleeing at Memphis. If he leaves us, especially if he didn't sign his Tulane contract, well that's his business. At least he helped us pick up the pace and not look like the Ruse offense for our bowl win.
I think a whole lot of posters here, if not 99%, would have a hard time walking away from a job offer that was half a million more than what they're currently making.

DfromCT good post. This is common knowldege in college sports. Every coach knows that each coach should and will do what’s best for their family.
The team/school/coaching relationships always come second.
As long as the coach is up front coaches support each other with these types of decisions.

Just wondering. Name some thing you wouldn't be willing to commit to if it meant a $500K increase in your salary. I can't think of too many right off the top of my head.

He was asked about certain coaches as assistants. Couldn’t commit on them.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 20, 2018 8:13 pmJust wondering. Name some thing you wouldn't be willing to commit to if it meant a $500K increase in your salary. I can't think of too many right off the top of my head.
