Wake and UAB we were tied in the late in the second half. Neither team was decidedly worse or better than Tulane. We lost. Calling those two as out of hand is a little exaggerated, IMHO. Cincy we let get out of hand when we threw the ball something like 11 out of 16 plays and didn't pick up a first down on 3 or 4 consecutive possessions. By the time that stretch was over, so was the game.
The game was over before that stretch. It's why they went all pass. Like Memphis when we had the game and ran the ball 17 straight times.

Under WF here's who we beat:

2016- Southern, ULL, UMass(some genius here thinks they should be in the conference),and UCONN.
2017- Grambling, Army, Tulsa, ECU and Houston
2018-Nicholls and Memphis

So two of those are respectable wins. In those two we were balanced. But just keep running it.

There's a reason they say stats are for losers. I believe the actual numbers when we run for 250 or more is 7-1. Those wins are against the really weak teams on the schedule. In all those other games we didn't abandon the running game. We just can't run when we play a team that has a decent defense or better. Our best win was against Houston last year. We passed for 251 and ran for 166. Yes the passing game is in a funk. Encalade and Mooney haven't been guys that drop passes. So that should get cleared up during this bye week. Banks threw really well against Memphis. His numbers were really good even with the drops. Yet McMillan throws one short pass to a wide open receiver and people go nuts including the staff. You could see Banks trying to be perfect with his passes and trying to just lay them right in against Cincy. Then we find out he was told before the game each guy was getting auditioned for two series each. Unfortunately that got the best of him. He would have hit those deep balls McMillan missed -Senior quarterback Jonathan Banks leads The American and ranks sixth nationally in passing yards per completion, averaging 16.12 yards per completion.

People are asking why we can't recruit dual threat QB's. Well if all we do is run they aren't coming here.

The coaches have made a mess of this. We have 4 very winnable games left- SMU,Tulsa, ECU and Navy. So we can get to 6 and make some Bowl. Like I said in the prediction thread we needed to win 8 against this schedule to start to get the attention of recruits, media and last but not least the fans. This start has made everyone tune out.
