I’m a bit in disbelief that we acted this quickly and did the right thing at the same time.

The pitching coach change was in the works for awhile. Travis had a prior relationship with Daniel so they knew each other. While playing under Rick Jones Daniel became our all time saves leader. In his four years pitching for Tulane he made 4 Regionals, 3 Regional finals, 2 Super Regionals and one CWS. He also played pro ball and did all the grunt work in this business to get this opportunity. He’s a great addition to the program and will be the missing link we’ve needed. And I’ll add he’ll be a future Tulane Hall of Famer.

Great to hear. Will be interesting to watch pitching staff cut down on walks and find out if it was mechanical (release point, arm slot)

I'm to lazy but if Latham could come in and improve the numbers by say 20% (less walks, wild pitches and more "strikes") I would say we could be in a regional.

Very happy to hear it. Action was taken quickly and we came up with a good hire. Good career move for him too.

If Daniel can lower our ERA by 2 runs we can have an additional 10 wins
I would like Daniel to develop a legitimate closer

Happy for Daniel and Tulane. Excellent choice by coach Jewett. And win win for all associated with the program.

By 2 runs?? That would put us in contention for the CWS, assuming we still score at the same rate!

But more importantly, we have to eliminate the walk off base on balls or even worse, walk off wild pitches! I think Daniel Latham is a great hire, and will help bring the Wave back to contenders.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen more people happy about Tulane hiring an assistant coach in all my years following the Wave.

Welcome to gotula.net, where it's never too late to mention Tanner Lee, Andy Cannizaro, Lindsey Scott Jr., Rich Rodriguez, David Pierce, or, of course, Scott Cowan.

OK, but next time at least spell Cowen's name right.

This should be a lesson to TD: People are passionate about baseball at Tulane, and want OUR coaches, since the Rick Jones coaching tree is so talented.
