Matt Riser is still the head baseball coach in Hammond.
TU (TJ) RPI is 118
SELA (Riser) RPI is 131
USF (Mohl) RPI is 117
Which protégé would you like?
why the hell would Billy leave USF to come back to Tulane ?
I fear that the hassle of getting good players into Tulane for baseball isn’t worth the risk for the top head coach candidates . (AC being the exception for obvious reasons) . Jones wasn’t just making idle excuses when the program started slipping under him. It’s not impossible to get lucky on a handful of rich smart kids every once in a while. But it damn sure ain’t easy.
Looks like the HC's at USC, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Miami, Notre Dame, TCU, Rice, Duke and several other "private" institutions of higher learning have the same fears of getting smart players that can actually play the game

Well, that's an unfair comparison because those programs have:
1. P5 money and/or
2. Endowment large enough to meet 100% of need.
Because Tulane has neither, it's unfair to compare its' athletics to the athletics of those schools - USC (both), Stanford (both), Vanderbilt (both), Miami (P5 money only), Notre Dame (both), TCU (P5 money only), Rice (endowment only), and Duke (both).
Technically, Dallas Baptist is an outlier, but, then again, it doesn't have to use the little money that it does have to subsidize D1 football.
