I hope to see Drew in mid May for the "Celebrity Championship" at Morgan Run Resort..at one time he hosted the event, now Marshall Faulk is the host

Well played by both teams. Roper was outstanding.

Roper showed great control throughout. It was a shame he wasn’t allowed to come out to pitch the 9th.

He was great last night. It was an important turnaround for him after last weeks implosion. TJ said that his body language was different last week and he had never seen him like that . Hopefully he set the tone for the rest of the staff. As far as coming back out I know we are all in panic mode over the pen and rightfully so but he had thrown 119 pitches. He probably shouldn't have pitched the 8th based on his count. I'm big on not ruining guys arms to get one win. Everyone else needs to step up and do their jobs so that that doesn't happen. Johnson did his job but the defense failed him. Bjorngjeld then came in and did his job. Well done. May it continue.

Game 2 Final:

Purdue 12
Wave 8

Massey has disastrous game giving up 5 runs in 1.1 innings. Purdue gets 19 hits, and Wave makes 3 errors.

Polar opposite of Friday’s game?

Yeah it was a bad day at the park. Massey seems to have lost it again. Purdue's coach played at Pepperdine and they excel with small ball. They lay down excellent bunts. We weren't up to handling it.

Pray for a rain out and many more. Need to make pitchers wear a uniform with a picture of a dumpster on fire!

Gillies followed up his excellent outing last week with an even better one this week. White comes in and pitched well to close it out. He may be back in the weekend rotation next week. Big day at the plate by Spoon with two Homer’s.

Adding to the above Gillies struck out 11 . He had set his previous high of 5 last week. Congrats to Luke Glancy who got his first two hits- both doubles.

We had another player injured as Ty Johnson went down rounding first base. He trotted off with a noticeable limp. Hope it's not long term as we already had Jensen get hurt this week.

We have one last 5 game week with ULL and USM coming in and we travel to long Beach. So after this week we’ll have a chance to pare down the pitching. Augie Garrido told me that at CSF he could develop his teams by running guys out there early in the season to see what they could do as there was no pressure but couldn’t do that at Texas. Let’s hope that helps.

Just got lucky and spotted him all alone about 20 minutes before the game. Neither team was warming up on the field so I figured I wouldn't be disturbing him. Introduced myself and he was pretty talkative.

2-3 for the week is not what you want. However our weekend starting pitching is performing well. Our hitting is solid and keeping us in games. Need to find guys in the pen that can throw strikes. Another tough 5 game week ahead with good competition. Should be an interesting gauge to judge our progress.

Our defense needs a lot of improvement. The left side of the infield is not strong. There isn't much range there at all. The scorekeeper has been generous to our outfield too. Also it seems that after Heinrich's dive and miss against UNO our outfielders have been instructed to back off in an overreaction. There were several balls this weekend that it appeared Spoon should have gone and gotten in front of him but just let them bounce in front of him for hits. The left fielder was right there to back him up. That's a lot different from a corner outfielder going for one on the line where there won't be any back up.

Our base running has been shaky at times too. Spoon got lucky and scored when he shouldn't have been going at all. Just one of many times this year we haven't had good awareness. We also don't read the ball well off the bat. Too many times it has been obvious that it was going to be a hit and the runners don't move till the ball hits the ground.

We have a lot to clean up. Baseball's a long season so we do have time. May we make the best of it.

Good analysis I agree. I really agree on not reading the ball when running bases. This is something I could do in playground ball. It drives me nuts to see this. Same thing playing outfield. Balls hit over your head it’s much easier to go back fast and then come up if need be.
Our official scorer is another story. :o
