Counting on Ona Embo's Defense:

Picked 3rd in the conference . Not currently ranked. Hopefully we keep it that way.

Looking for reasons to believe Tulane will win tonight? You won't find any in this list:
  • SMU is 2-0 in conference play with wins against UCF (56-51) and USF (79-39) *ouch*
  • SMU has won 18 straight games against AAC opponents (including 6 conference road games)
  • They lead the AAC in scoring defense (58.9) and rank 4th in the NCAA
  • Only one team this year has scored more than 67 points against SMU (#16 ranked TCU defeated SMU 94-83)
  • SMU is 36-0 under Tim Jankovich at home in SMU's Moody coliseum
  • Against Tulane, SMU has won the last 5 and leads the series 20-13
  • Jankovich leads the NCAA in best winning percentage for coaches at their current school:
    -Jankovich is .864
    -Calipari at Kentucky is .825
    -Krzyzewski at Duke is .788
-Roy Williams at UNC is .778
  • SMU suffered sanctions under Larry Brown during the 2016 season: 3 years of no post-season play; and a loss of 9 scholarships. That was the third time a Brown-coached program had been sanctioned by the NCAA, with the others being Kansas and UCLA. It was SMU's 10th major infractions case, more than that of any other program. I don't think it is unfair to call them a bunch of cheatin' rascals.
See you at Devlin tonight! Roll Wave!

Giving it hell for a little while, but out athleted, can't take care of the ball and can't shoot the 3 . SMU has a lot to do with it. They're good.

I just don't get what Dunleavy is seeing with his lineup. Slater and Ona Embo should never be on the court at the same time. Slater barely should be allowed to give Ona Embo a spell much less eat up any other minutes. Cornish offers nothing but eats a ton of minutes. In all another lethargic half.

3-pointers: we’re 1 of 10 and they’re 3 of 5. That’s pretty much all you need to know.

When we have Cornish and Slater chucking up half our 3 pt attempts this low % should not be surprising.

If we can make an adjustment on D we have a shot. Their offense is 5 guys around the 3 pt line to clear out the lane and then take your man one-on-one and crash the glass.

SMU took defeat from the jaws of victory. Tulane won the game at the FT line - where they were fantastic.

This team isn't ready yet, but they sure have improved. I'm starting to buy in a little.

24-7 run in the middle of the second half was the difference. And free throws down the stretch. For those of you that said before the season that we might surprise a team or two during conference play, here's one for you.

When trying to find 8 or 9 conference wins preseason, we already got 2 that I would have picked as Ls.

Final: Wave 73, SMU 70

A great win for this team and coach Dunleavy

SMOO’s streak is over. If we can hang with this team, we can hang with at least 7-8 other teams in our league. Being at home was a big plus.

I had them at 7-11 in conf and 16-14 overall. I would have had them losing both the @Temple and the SAME game, but I would have had a win vs Tulsa.

Reynolds played a great 2nd half. His baseline post-up was unstoppable for a stretch. FT shooting was key. Daniels was good again and needs to flip flop minutes with Cornish... He deserves a bigger role.

We must be the most bipolar fan board in the country. Less than 20 posts in this thread and yet we have one "I don't know what Dunleavy is thinking" and one "we have a coach"! Which is it?
