Stadium has a capacity of 27,962. Add in SRO 30K.
BTW: The stadium is expandable.
Cowen is no longer the President of Tulane.
Tulane maneuvered out of CUSA and into the American because it showed commitment to football by building Yulman Stadium.

That Team Dickson is here very clearly trying to throw Cowen under the bus for their failures is utterly disgusting. You keep claiming that we showed a "commitment to football" but everyone else around the country, you know reality, sees a <25K stadium as the opposite. You will never be successful believing you can redefine everyone else's reality to fit your own made up views.Green Wave wrote:nawlinspete wrote:From the AAC Board "Tulane screwed itself for future realignment when it built a 22,600 foot football stadium...."

For the rest of us, this delusion is a big problem, because it has been institutionalized and cemented in place with $100M in facilities.

The stadium was built to fit AAC levels of attendance. We will be in this conference for a long time.
We may have already been told that the Big XII isn't happening - and we decided to make new plans accordingly.

Great "thinking" on the Tulane Admin's part !!!!.... I wonder what "head" they used for that thought process ?!?!?!?oliveandblue wrote:The stadium was built to fit AAC levels of attendance. We will be in this conference for a long time.

Be a Hero Today.... Adopt a Shelter Pet... The Beatles once sang "Can't Buy Me Love"... I disagree, unconditional Love can be bought, for the nominal adoption fee at your local Pet Shelter !

Oh, you mean CowDick, the great dynamic duo who understood everything better than any other university pres/ad in the country ! And we're still stuck with the ass end of the duo ! Wait, wait, the Cow still is being paid to spread his ---- too.Bigschtick wrote:What head? The one they keep where the sun don't shine! That head!
We are so fortunate to still have their brilliance guiding us, with Fitts nowhere to be found, let alone heard from. Ah, no wonder we have such great coaches, facilities, schedules, future schedules, and prospects for the future.

We were lucky to get into the AAC. There are still people that believe that we do not have the pedigree to even be here.
I believe we are growing as an athletic department - but it takes a very long time to dig out from how far down we really once were. There were immeasurably stupid decisions made between 2000-2011, and it will take another full decade to completely heal from those errors in judgement.
I would love a new AD, but that's not happening. Our best case scenario is that the teams start to win a bit more and the AD has a switch fire off in his head.
I could sit here and cry for days, but life is too short. I'm worn out from attacking the poor administration.
Can August get here already?

Vandy's "capacity" is stated as 40,550.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanderbilt_Stadium
TCU's "capacity" is listed as 45,000
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCU_Horned_Frogs_football
I don't think realistically the Big VII would expect for a private like Tulane to have for membership a stadium "capacity" larger than 40,000 to 45,000. And, we will have the Dome if ever needed for certain games.
Of course, I favored hiring RR and staying in the Dome but then Cow/Dick came along.

Winning a few more games will accomplish nothing.
Seismic shifts are about to again happen in collegiate athletics and we must STAND UP AND ROAR that the past is the past.
Dickson must be fired. Cowen must be barred from campus. The FB and MBB coaches must be fired. A public pronouncement that Tulane has been misguided in virtually each and every action since Cowen refused to hire RR and drove Barbour away, including constructing a totally inappropriate FB venue for the future. Tulane needs to publicly renounce the Model, tear down Devlin, Wilson, and Turchin, immediately prioritize plans to expand Yulman to 50,000/65,000 to attract ACC or Big XII while relocating BB, BB, tennis, and other Olympic Sports to the Goldring land. Tulane must ACT NOW and beg for the necessary donations through a completely credible athletic department and athletic director who welcomes ALL to our side of the street.
A lot more than a few wins required. Act Now Or Be Doomed Forever.

Well if the goal of the $100M just spent on facilities was to stay in the AAC with it's $1.5M/year in media rights revenue and only <25K tickets to sell to any game, how can Tulane run a financially viable D1A athletic department? It cannot.oliveandblue wrote:The stadium was built to fit AAC levels of attendance. We will be in this conference for a long time.

Do you realize how big of a f*ck up it is to spend $100M on a plan that doesn't even make basic sense?
If the plan was to build a <25K stadium to "show the commitment to athletics" then how stupid is that plan?
What is the strategy? Why won't they tell us? No matter what the final answer is, it's a disaster and each large paycheck being deposited in Dickson's bank account is draining exponentially more value out of Tulane athletics as it sinks deeper into no mans land.

In every rational instance, if an administration is given 15 years total, and you are talking 10+ years into their administration they are making "immeasurably stupid decisions", the organization will replace the administration and bring in new people to fix the created problems.oliveandblue wrote:We were lucky to get into the AAC. Only at Tulane do they somehow believe that if we allow those who made the "immeasurably stupid decisions" to keep digging the same hole deeper is that somehow going to have a happy ending. They aren't even claiming they are going to fix the "immeasurably stupid decisions", in fact, they are insisting that those decisions were correct and that we are a bunch of idiots for not understanding their brilliance.
Hope is not a strategy.

Tulane athletics is not a charity or non-profit that Dickson is entitled to run in perpetuity, results be damned. As noted in the other topic, Tulane University and TU Athletics are an important economic engine for the city and state and must not be allowed to be run into the ground.oliveandblue wrote:We were lucky to get into the AAC. Oh, but Green Wave thinks I'm not appreciating adding an Ole Miss game to the schedule in 2023. That'll fix everything.
