The conference looked bad the two middle weekends in September with some blowout losses to P5's (Tulsa vs Ohio St, UCF vs Michigan, etc.) But losses like these, to what we like to think of as "lesser" G5 conference teams, really hurts the AAC's image and quest to become the P6 more than those early season debacles.

We'll have to agree to disagree. They both hurt the conference very much. Losses in those early games to those teams is one thing but the blowout fashion just helped to confirm to the casual observers that the conference is much inferior and just stopped paying attention to it.

The AAC is going through another terrible bowl season at this rate. From an objective standpoint, Houston, Navy, USF, Tulsa, Temple and possibly even Memphis had a shot at being ranked in the final AP top 25 depending on how their bowl games went and how other bowls played out. As of now, Houston (SDSU), Navy (LaTech), and Memphis (WKU) all lost their bowl games, so now that only leaves Tulsa (won), Temple (pending), and USF (pending) with a shot at being in the final top 25. Overall, the AAC is currently 1/4 in bowls (w/ a UCF loss) with just 2 bowl games remaining, so it guaranteed a losing bowl record.

Another unfortunate bowl season for the AAC. The sad part is that the conference could have had 5+ teams in the final ap top 25 with bowl wins (Houston, Temple, Navy, Tulsa, USF and maybe Memphis). Houston, Navy, and Memphis have already lost, with USF and Temple being big question marks given their coaching changes.

Sorry but it's just not reality based to say it would have had 5 teams finish in the top 25. More important is the reality of them not handling their business. We all appreciate Aresco's efforts of trying to claim P6 status but it is just not based in reality. He's doing his job but it ends there.

Any AAC team with 10+ overall wins (inc. a bowl win) would have a real shot at being in the final top 25. Houston, Navy, Temple, USF, and Tulsa all landed in that category. However, sadly, 3 of those teams lost their games and the only one that hasn't played yet lost its coach. Not only that, but the AAC is sitting at 1-5 in bowls overall. The sad part is that Baylor, with a single season coach and a depleted roster, handed Boise its worst bowl loss in years, and only Houston in the AAC had an OOC victory that was as good as or better than that.

On a separate note, I would again argue that a lack of continuity with coaches will forever relegate this conference to the second tier. The AAC needs to focus on finding a way to retain successful coaches - if that's even possible.

We'll have to agree to disagree. Based on the final regular season poll we didn't have 5 positioned to get in.

As for keeping coaches that 's going to be a rarity. Houston made a mistake w/their hiring process by trying to put in a ridiculous buy out. If that continues the conference will go down. ALL the schools are stepping stones. They need to accept that and always look to make the best hire and not worry about keeping them as a qualification.
