I asked this when someone insisted that the conference sends teams to certain games based upon matchups and trying to maximize wins: Why is the AAC terrible in bowl games?

Yes Tulane won.

USF embarrassed by Marshall
Memphis lost to Wake Forest
Houston is getting DOMINATED by a team that many posters here said would lose to Navy. Army is the best military football program in the nation, has been for three years now..

The AAC needs to win these games, not look horrible and get embarrassed. P6 talk is very shallow when we continue to be under .500 in our bowl games. Through 36 AAC Bowl Games, the conference is 13-23. Most (not all) of the losses were to other G5 programs. It's a huge black eye on the conference.

Bigschtick, that's a beautiful sunset picture. Is it one you took? If so, where?

Many years ago, the year 2000 to be exact, I was on a bighorn sheep hunt in the Sonoran Desert north of Hermosillio Mexico and took a number of pics of a stunning sunset. And yes, I managed to get plenty of cactus in the shots for good effect. Beautiful country there, but I bet it's super dangerous now.

And humble pie it was, final:

Army 70
Houston 14

And. needless to say, makes the P6 stuff look pretty damn bad.

Cajun, I did not take that picture but it was taken in the desert around the

Although Army did almost take one of the ESPN Invitational teams to overtime earlier this season.

Tip of the hat to the Army Black Knights. They shouldn't plan on the same degree of success on Oct 5, 2019 at West Point as they will not match up quite so well against the Wave. I'm looking forward to my first trip to Mitchie Stadium and their storied campus.

Major Applewhite may not survive Army bowl game loss:

If he wanted real job security he should have coached basketball at Tulane.

Clearly ESPN is out to undermine the AAC so when the TV contract comes up they can low ball it. :mrgreen: Seriously the conference just isn't what we give it credit for being when this happens more often than not.

1) 12/15 Cure Bowl (Orlando):Wave 41, ULALA 27;
2) 12/20 Gasparilla Bowl (Tampa): Marshall 38, USF 20;
3) 12/21 Birmingham Bowl: Wake Forest 37, Memphis 34;
4) 12/22 Armed Forces Bowl (Fort Worth): Army 70, Houston 14;
5) 12/27 Independence Bowl (Shreveport): Temple v. Duke;
6) 12/29 Military Bowl (Annapolis): Cincinnati v. Virginia Tech; and,
7) 1/1 Fiesta Bowl (Glendale): UCF v. LSU

Our AAC is only 1-3 to date, Let’s hope Temple brings us some good news tonight versus Duke. On Saturday Cincy versus VT will be tough and on New Year’s Day we should all be cheering for the UCF Knights. Let’s hope the UCF offense keeps them in it against ‘dem Tigggers. It will be godawful if we go 1-6 as a conference for this bowl season.

And Commissioner Michael L.. Aresco, love the Wave!!!

Temple led 27-14, with four minutes left in the first half. Ended up losing to Duke, 56-27. 42 unanswered points by the Blue Devils. AAC now 1-4.

I could have gotten a 1,000,000 to 1 bet at any sportsbook in the country on Tulane being the only AAC school to win in the post season. We need to hope Cincinnati and UCF bail us out, because this is pathetic.

Temple got the snot kicked out of it by Duke, whom was coming off of a blowout loss to Wake Forest their last regular season game. Final in Shreveport: Duke 56 Temple 27 (Temple lead at the half 27-21 and got shut out in the second half.)

The game I'm looking forward to is the Fiesta Bowl. It's weird that a game in Arizona starts at 1 PM EST on New Years day. March On, Knights!

Holy crap, absolute proof I am working my ass off today & took a Gotula break to just keep my sanity!!! Temple was a 3.5 pt. favorite over Duke??? Cincy is a 5.5 pt. favorite over VT, and LSU is 7.5 pts. over UCF.

It may well prove our only AAC win will be by the Wave. I will pull hard for UCF but question both their offense and defense against a top tier SEC team.

If the AAC goes 1-6 including blow-out losses by Houston & Temple, P6? :confused:

Many of you would turn your noses up at the schedule that Army had, but I think they did a smart thing by scheduling a crap load of beatable teams to showcase their program as a top 25 team.

Hey fellows looks like our Green Wave is the most stable Football Program moving forward in the AAC. Conference Title in the near future is definitely with in reach. Praise Dannen and Coach Fritz, stability means strength.

At least the CCG. Regardless of the result in the Houston game, I don't see anyone in the AAC West that I feel is better than us. In fact, the only team in the conf we may not be able to match up with is UCF. Cincy's defense is strong, but I think we can still compete with them.

Our 2 remaining AAC games are Cincy v. Va. Tech on Monday, New Year's Eve, Cincy is a 5.5 pt. favorite; and, UCF v. LSU on New Year's Day, LSU is a 7.5 pt. favorite. Cincy v. Va,. Tech rotation nos. 257-258 and UCF v. LSU rotation nos. 273-274 for Vegas sheet. http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-foo ... las-vegas/

Sadly, 1-6 is very doable for our conference.

So is 3-4, hopefully. That would be 2-2 vs P5 as well.

The issue is that coaching is always in flux in the AAC, and that plays a role in theses losses:

1. Memphis lost its OC prior to the bowl with its DC annoucing before the bowl that he was leaving.
2. USF lost its OC prior to the bowl.
3. Temple lost its HC and staff before the bowl.
4. Houston has its own problems (i.e. Applewhite should never have been coach), but it’s OC left right after the game.

It’s not as straightforward as some make it out to be.

No one will be pulling more for UCF than me. And, let's hope Cincy is for real, Va. Tech will be a good test for the Bearcats.

The Houston result, any way you cut it, is a real stain on this season for the AAC.
