What games are Tulane supposed to win in order to reach six?
UH gave up 27 points to a bad Rice team. USF struggled to beat Elon winning 34 to 14. N. Texas put a whipping on SMU 46 to 23. And surprisingly, a very unheralded Hawai’i put up 59 points on Navy beating the Middies 59 to 41. Memphis beat Mercer 66 to 14, but Mercer? ECU’s game with N.C. A & T was cancelled. UCF crushed hapless UCONN, 56 to 17. We play UCONN, we don’t play UCF.
So cheer up Wave fans, we have a whole lot of very winnable games left on our schedule.
And, as a side note, UTSA, coached by Frank Wilson, thought by many to be our “savior,” stunk up the place losing to ASU at Tempe 49 to 7.
And, to say the least, yesterday was not a good day for advancing the AAC’s argument for “P6” status.

the N Texas / SMU game was not even that close...N Texas Band members were playing in the 4th QTR..it was shades of "Necessary Roughness" brought upon Sonny Dykes and the ponies of the hill topWave755 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:56 am UH gave up 27 points to a bad Rice team. We don't play UConn or UCF. If you look at Houston and Navy as winnable games, you just have to hope the team doesnt get discouraged if we open at 2-4.. Figuring losses to WF, Ohio State, Memphis and possibly an improving Cincinnati, we'd be 2-4 come bye week. However, after that, only the USF game might be a stretch. We could easily win 5 of the last six, or lose 5 of the last six.Wave755 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:56 am UH gave up 27 points to a bad Rice team. USF struggled to beat Elon winning 34 to 14. N. We play Memphis, SMU, East Carolina and Navy at home. And, you are correct, no UCONN this year. It is essential we beat both NSU & UAB. Needless to say, we will need no motivation to get ready for the Colonels.RobertM320 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 12:54 pmWe don't play UConn or UCF. Idk. I expected SMU to get crushed, UNT is gonna be at the top of CUSA this year and SMU will be near the cellar with a whole new regime. Temple losing to Villanova is inexcusable. The Navy loss hurts a lot too as far as p6, but on the road to Hawaii is always tough.
Realistically to really solidify the p6 narrative Temple needed to win. And either Navy or Tulane needed to win.
Even the p5 struggle with FCS and shitty g5 teams the opening weeks. All that people remember is who ends up winning.
Cincy made a huge statement and the rest of the conference did almost exactly what was needed. Unfortunately the Greenies could've really pushed the narrative up another level and bottled it.
There are still games out there for the AAC to make a statement. But considering Cincy beat UCLA on the road, this weekend was an overall dud :/

And now, ECU is losing to North Carolina A&T, 21-20, in the 4th quarter. AAC needs to grow up fast.
But, ECU drove to kick a FG, 23-20 - still over 9 minutes to play.
And we think we've got it tough, A&T scored again, 28-23 - over 6 minutes left.

The “cupcake” ate ECU! On November 10th we play ECU @ Yulman.
Villanova beats Temple and now this. And, in the second half USF only scored a field goal against Elon, although they did win 34 to 14. So, suffice it to say, our conference isn’t nearly as good as we thought it was.
I have 5 wins. Maybe the Tulsa game can get the total to 6 if we win these 5 I picked.Aberzombie1892 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 9:51 am What games are Tulane supposed to win in order to reach six?
Nicholls UAB SMU ECU Navy are my 5 wins.

I need to know more about Houston, a really bad Rice team did put up 27 points on the Cougars? And, Tulsa only beat Central Arkansas 38-27, so I think we can win that game @ Rick Dickson’s alma mater on October 27?tpstulane wrote: ↑Sun Sep 02, 2018 6:53 pmI have 5 wins. So, I think we can possibly win 6 games, 7 games at the absolute most for this season.
Yep. Not a good weekend for the conference. Thank god Cincy won or it would have been a total abomination.
