42-10 half
The AAC needs to do well in these bowl games to get any respect from P5’s.

No excuse to get killed like that. They should have won by that margin if we want to establish dominance. Can't just talk the talk. The conference needs to step it up otherwise even if UCF wins it will be meaningless.

To be honest, whether we win these bowl games or not, nobody is really paying that much attention. Quick, without looking it up — how did the MAC do in bowls last season? The MWC? Who won the Cure Bowl last year? Which conference had the best bowl record?

To the vast majority of the casual football public, these games this week are irrelevant and quickly forgotten. We don’t usually want to admit that because it means our upside for winning them is lower, but it’s true. Ask the guys in your office any of the above questions and you’ll get blank stares. There isn’t a lot of “respect” given or lost either way.

It's obviously better to win them than lose them. Aresco is out there constantly pushing that we are so superior to the other G's that we should be a P. He needs ammunition. When the conference gets its ass whipped every year in these games it not only hurts his argument but it gives the other G's ammunition to argue that we aren't superior at all.

And, La. Tech ruined Preston Ellison's signing day, Ellison was our only commit to jump ship who signed at the last minute instead with the Ponies.

Truly a disgraceful performance by SMU last night that hurts the entire AAC.

He left when we hired Fritz. Like many others, he got the impression that we were going to a triple option offense similar to the academies. Didn't help when all the media kept calling his offense that. If we had had Encalade, Mouney and Veal this season, we'd be in a bowl game for sure.

Unfortunately, although the games dont have a meaning to the general public as far as good or bad, it does drive the narrative as to whether we are a P6 or a G5. Bowl games ARE our playoff games as far as public perception. If we want the public to see us as a P6, then every time they see us, we need to win. No excuses.

Agree with what you say there. I would add though that the reason the media kept calling it that was b/c Fritz kept calling it that. It was the biggest mistake he's made since he came here. He doesn't say it much anymore but once in a while it still slips through.

BTW, it seems that this should be in the AAC forum.

I am not so sure Veal would have fit in with the culture change we had during the last 2 years. He may have eventually gotten run off like so many of CJ's other recruits.

lighten up on SMU, their bus was caught up in a traffic jam on the North Dallas Toll Way and they arrived late for the game..but Frisco is a nice place to visit
