Not really sure this has to do with haves/have nots. We had $2.5M to spend on a weightroom but chose to do something else. Rick Dickson said we had what needed to win championships.tpstulane wrote:The gap grows wider between the haves and the have notsNOLABigSteve wrote:Just another example of how far behind we truly are...

A few years ago with the Fire Dickson banner etc there was pushback from the fanbase. Cowen literally laughed at the pushback and continued supporting Dickson.
The Board has legal liability for this. "I didn't know he was utterly clueless and incompetent for 15 years despite all the evidence" does not all under the extremely broadly defined duty of care.
Yes true but it's in a multi-million dollar football operations building something that we still don't have. Here's a telling quote:jonathanjoseph wrote:Not really sure this has to do with haves/have nots. We had $2.5M to spend on a weightroom but chose to do something else. "For a brief time, it’ll be the best of its kind,” Moffitt said. “Someone will top it soon after we’re done.”
It's just LSU's attempt to keep pace in this on-going facilities arms race playing out in the Southeastern Conference.

I did read an article somewhere that a lot of these schools are building up massive amounts of debt in their athletic depts. Tennessee in particular. LSU was also mentioned as being well over $100M. Its money owed on debt service for bonds issued to build a lot of these facilities. One concern is, what happens when the revenue dollars start declining and yet there's still all this debt to pay?

Not sure it's relevant. For starters, there is no evidence that revenue will decline. It may or may not come from new sources but that's a different discussion. LSU Athletics is profitable and the university can easily justify financing that amount.RobertM320 wrote:I did read an article somewhere that a lot of these schools are building up massive amounts of debt in their athletic depts. Cowen was no longer President when the "Fire Dickson" banner flew over Yulman. He stepped aside in July of 2014, that was November of 2014.jonathanjoseph wrote:Not really sure this has to do with haves/have nots.
