LSU spends more on a pool than we did on a stadium

LSU, UNO, Loyola, ULL, ULM, Louisiana Tech, Southeastern, Delgado, Northwestern, McNeese, Nicholls St., Southern, Grambling, Centenary, Dilliard, Xavier, etc.

LSU's $84 million dollar swimming pool.

fact that we can build this pool on one budget while the university is sinking on another shows that overall there is a problem with the way universities finance their work,” LSU Faculty Senate President and professor Kevin Cope told 103.5 FM .

“To build a swimming pool in the form of the letters L, S, and U is ugly, kitsch, ridiculous, and rather childish.”

Austerity vs stimulus.

These investments absolutely help to retain and attract students. To say they don't is absurd. Now is it worth $84mm, IDK. Definitely no need to build nine tennis courts, that's for sure.

Definitely will help their football recruiting better than Yulman has helped ours. It's still absurd. Tulane spent $30 million on their entire University Center. Someone is making bank on that pool. I wish I had that contract.

About 50 million on the cost of this pool but they are behind paying faculty, losing their best faculty and not increasing faculty salaries. Class sizes are doubling. upkeep of on campus buildings are failing. What is the purpose of LSU to educate students to become a public Ivy! Will not happen. All football!

$/55 million for a pool shaped like LSU. Why not put the $55m into education to pay the instructors that are leaving LSU A&M in droves from low pay to better universities. Better yet spend it on the football team as usual rather than try to give a public Ivy League education like UVA or UNC to Louisiana students.Sad.

This pool is extremely stupid. No two ways about it. It will attract absolutely nobody to go to school there that wasn't already going. At no point in my 4 years at LSU did I ever think to myself, boy I really wish there was a lazy river on Campus.
